To be fair, this absurdity has always been part of the Superman mythology.

True but in the previous ones it was never indicated that anyone ever recognized him, and when Lois did find out in Superman II, he "erased" her memory to keep her safe.

Well so far, more people like it than dislike it. I'd say a "C" or below, in this thread, would equate to dislike, and a "B" and above would be a liking of it.

Stop hating.
Saw it again last night, still just as beautiful. Still one of the best comic book films made.

Re: Man of Steel
Spoilers...
It was good and worth watching, but definitely not that great. Without a doubt better than 2006's Superman, but nothing compared to the TDK trilogy.
The fight scenes between Superman and the other Kryptonians got dull rather quickly. It was totally pointless, why did they kept punching and punching when it never leads anywhere? And then at the end, all Superman has to do to beat Zod is to break his neck? Why the hell didn't he do that earlier, and to the other kryptonians as well?
Also, I thought most characters were not terribly interesting. The story went too fast and was not very well written. And I didn't feel any chemistry between Superman and Lois.
Oh well. 7 or 7.5 /10

Action-packed and pretty awesome, but very lacking in terms of an origin story. They really rushed right to him getting the Superman suit on the ship, and jumped straight into the action. Which I don't mind, but it prevents it from being one of the comic book greats.

Re: Man of Steel
In term of a godly and mythic, yet also outcast and vulnerable vision of Superman, I don't believe any scene in Man of Steel rivals this great moment:

Someone tweeted that the characters in FAST & FURIOUS 6 actively save more people than Superman in this flick.
And this has little to do with MoS, but I like "stalker Superman" in RETURNS. He's so invulnerable as a character that he easily becomes boring. Tearing at his emotions makes him interesting.

Speaking of Kryptonite, did anyone else think that the Krypton atmosphere was a way for Snyder and co. to have it in the film without it being a big green rock?

How do you thinks it wom will fare, mag?
Smallville rocked. Costner and Crowe have to return.
Krypton was awesome. The music blare that sounds as Jor el.escapes to the balcony to see intergalactoy war fare?

Re: Man of Steel
Too tired to write proper review.
Needs:
- Better, tighter script - Better action...wtf Zach Snyder? The slow-mo orgies of 300 and Watchmen were MUCH better than this shaky cam, blurry mess where everything started to look the same and was complete overload. I hate to say this but the plane scene in Superman Returns was a better action sequence than anything in this film. - More shirtless Henry Cavill, we needed AT LEAST one butt shot, c'mon people - More humour - Less detours into generic blockbuster territory via cheesy one liners and stock reaction shots and things like that.

Re: Man of Steel
This film proves Bryan Singer is just a much, much better director than Zach Snyder. With a bit of fine-tuning a true pro could have turned this script into an amazing film but this was merely OK.

BTW someone who hasn't really gotten as much attention but deserves it is Diane Lane. Loved her in this. And in contrast I thought Kal's real mom was kind of bad.

Also, why the fuck does Zod make Lois come onto the ship? Doesn't so him any good. The story in the 2nd half is really just out there in many ways.
They say after the fact that they scanned Lois' mind, which doesn't make much sense as they also scanned Kal-El's. It's just an excuse for her to grab the Superman logo stick to use in the finale.

Yes! And they are feelings everyone can relate to. I have no clue why so many nerds are bothered by Singer's decision to position Superman as the outsider in a love triangle. I find it very moving.

Oh, I don't know. A lot of the stuff is really well done.
The "You are not alone" scene is one of the most perfect scenes I can recall. It is up there with the TDK interrogation. The tension is huge. In fact the entire build up to Zod arriving on Earth is excellent.

Is that the scene with the tvs being interrupted? Trying to recall this memorable scene.

Um yes? Maybe your memory is just shit?
Superman's "I can do things other people cant" followed by Adams crazy scream seems like the perfect set up fro a sexual parody.

Krypton, Smallville, Superman vs. Zod, YOU ARE NOT ALONE!, shot of Clark on fire, casually opening the door for the trapped oil rigmen, etc etc. "GO Lois...". Clark's delivery of pretty much all his lines.
Lots of perfection in this film.
