There are contexts applied to different kind of movies. At 85 minutes long, Red Eye couldn't really afford to go into too much detail to avoid the plot holes. Plus, it kinda would have killed some of the suspence and the momentum. I don't know, I also didn't really bother to may that much attention to those details, so they all just flew over my head for the most part.

Really good, suspenseful movie. It also had its funny moments, like "Thanks for the quickie." Rachel McAdams was on fire last year, that's for sure.

Good movie that falls flat on its face once they get out of the airplane. Its final scene is embarassingly bad.

Yup. I wish they could have kept up the inteplay between the two leads. I knew from going about that something was wrong with the Rippner character (I thought it was something supernatural, like he was a grim reaper or something) but as soon as they plop down on the plane it's like "HI, I'M A TERRORIST".

Jackson Rippner? That's sledgehammer-to-the-face obvious.
In spite of some of it's cliched thriller/horror devices and elements, it was a damn fun movie. Perhaps the night was enhanced by the crowd of ten or so of my friends in my house watching it with me. Either way, I enjoyed it. B.

I found it to be a very well-made, if conventional, thriller. It reminded me a lot of Phone Booth, in a good way. I liked Phone Booth a little more as it was even more suspenseful and was shot within an even more confined space, but Red Eye comes close. The running time is exactly how it should be. The movie's not too long and not too short. The pacing is always right on. Rachel McAdams delivers a very fine performance, but Cilliam McMurphy is the star here as he delivers a very creepy turn. Things get a little downhill once they get off the plane, but it still always remains entertaining despite the utter lack of realism.

Very tight and suspenseful for the middle portion, while they're on the plane, but unfortunately that's the only good part. The exposition, with the harmless flirting between the two, is nearly laughably bad, and the end is so clichéd, unbelievable, and stupid that it ruins the great build-up. And the semi-character development they attempted is just useless. If they had stuck with the stuff on the plane, it would have been good, but it was ruined by a crappy ending.

Just caught this last week, glad someone bumped it. It's a solid thriller, with good performances, although I didn't really care what happened to McAdams or her father, because character development was all rolled into like, 2 phone calls. A little to generic to stand out (hence it doing well but not breaking out at the BO) in my mind, and it served its purpose as enjoyable but forgettable entertainment. Ending is a little too forced, convenient, and cliched (all common symptoms of these kinds of films)

I'd rate this a C
The story really is to treadbare to be sustained for a whole movie. Craven had a decent stab at it but the scenes off the plane just seem stuck on to increase the length
Cillian Murphys character seems to turn into the Terminator near the end which is just silly
The bad Guys plan really seems way to complicated. I'm sure there are far easier ways to kill a senator.
Overall It isn't a bad movie to rent if your stuck for choice but not much else.

Flawed but good, entertaining thriller (but the ending was pretty bad/lazy). Another hit for Rachel McAdams and the solid year she had.

Nothing exciting, just an enjoyable flick with a good cast.

Much better than Cursed in any matter. Haven't seen this since released, but I remember never being bored. That's a good thing.
And yes... The ending was atrociously awful.
Still, not enough to kill the whole film for me.

 Re: Red Eye
6/10 -> C
It's enjoyable, but flawed and without a good ending. It goes from a small-scale, suspenseful movie to some bazooka assassination plot and slashery-ending? The whole thing just didn't mesh well with me. I'd be happier if everything got resolved between the main two characters while inside the airplane.

 Re: Red Eye
Just watched it again. It holds up, but the bazooka bit is a bit ridiculous.
And did anyone else have the feeling that the film's plot could have very easily been part of a "24" season (just without Jack Bauer)?

 Re: Red Eye
Rewatched this on Cinemax just now and forgot how much I enjoyed it. Wes Craven should do another thriller like this.
