Sounds about right to me.

The action in this one looks pretty HUGE and with it being mostly practical effects that makes it even more expensive. It's crazy to think the budget for F7 could exceed $200M.

This franchise has really come a long way since the first movie.

It's a big Summer blockbuster. $160m is nothing.

Agreed, I think they kept the budget well in control, it could have ballooned to astronomical levels easily.

What is the budget for The Purge? I imagine under 5 Million.

I would not be surprised if The Purge is a bit pricier. I know Sinister only cost three million, but this is a Universal and Michael Bay production.

In a press release, Universal referred to The Purge as "the first micro-budget film under the studio’s production partnership with Jason Blum"...

Wow, indeed.

The Internship, I'm guessing that $58m has a lot to do with Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson demanding high salaries due to The Wedding Crashers' success.

Sort of both. I have a number of friends who've worked for him and/or been offered jobs with him, and his terms are ridiculous. You get paid absolutely nothing until the film is released theatrically and hits a certain gross number. If the film doesn't hit that number, you are not paid.

Don't sign the contract then. Seriously, they can't complain if they are stupid enough to sign a contract with him. It only takes enough people to do it for him to realise that he should offer better terms.

Either take the initiative, or accept his terms and hope that the exposure will do your career good.

Complaining about it doesn't do anybody any good. As Arnie would say; stop whining!

That's great budget for Purge specially with Universal involved. OKish for Internship though it could have been made for $40m or so IMO.

With approx $50m marketing budget (my guesstimate), Internship will need $120m to break-even.

Why would Internship have $50m for their marketing budget? I think $20m is the reasonable marketing budget. I am sure tie-ups with Google would have helped this movie.
