I'm interested in knowing the grosses for Stallone movies if you have time. I get my numbers here: http://www.angelfire.com/home/bobic/HK_Movies/main.htm. The list is in Chinese. Which Stallone films are you looking? All really.

I wonder what is adjusted for inflation #1? Interesting question. To answer that, I would need Hong Kong's inflation data. Unfortunately I don't have them handy. But I could venture a guess by using BOM's avg ticket price table for inflation adjustment purpose. #1 Titanic (1997) HK$215M #2 Avatar (2009) HK$178M #3 Jurassic Park (1993) HK$115M #4 Jackie Chan's "Rumble in the Bronx" (1995) HK$104M #5 Jackie Chan's "Police Story 4: First Strike" (1996) HK$103M #6 Jurassic Park: The Lost World (1997) HK$101M #7 Chow Yun Fat's "God of Gamblers Return" (1994) HK$100M #8 The Avengers (2012) HK$97M #9 Stephen Chow's "Justice, My Foot!" Wow. Thanks so much. When I asked HK filmart for an box office inflation adjusted list, no one responded. By the way, that site doesn't list Titanic's full gross (only lists up to December 31, 2 week run). Also, do you know what Pirates 3 opening day is? Can't find it anywhere.

Gross drops will be way higher than admission drops.Pretty good for Star Trek 2. Looks like it will win the weekend. Great for Iron Man 3. Decent for The Great Gatsby. Shocking Saturday for Pee Mak Phra Khanong! Fantastic number. Excellent hold for The Call.

Pretty good for Iron Man 3. Star Trek 2 remains strong. The Great Gatsby fell due to the long duration and the weaker night shows on Sunday. Huge jump for Pee Mak Phra Khanong. The Call is excelling.

STID just narrowly takes the crown from IM3. Blue, could it go down with actuals?

May 16 Weekend Actuals
1. Star Trek 2 - $1,159,336 (weekend actual) 2. Iron Man 3 - $12,898,264 ($100.13m HK) 3. The Great Gatsby - $493,362 (weekend actual) 4. Pee Mak Phra Khanong - $247,325 (weekend actual) 5. The Call - $363,258
Everything was overestimated except for Pee Mak Phra Khanong. Pee Mak Phra Khanong is the biggest Thai horror movie in the past 2 years.
Star Trek 2's opening is still pretty good. Iron Man 3 did not pass 13m this weekend but will do in short order. The Great Gatsby's weekend is downgraded only to OK. The Call did great this weekend.
Others: The Big Wedding - $346,512 The Berlin File - $46,373 (weekend actual) A Chorus of Angels - $12,881 (weekend actual) Thérèse Desqueyroux - $9,017 (weekend actual)

Star Trek 2 is starting to rebuild that separation it had from Iron Man 3 last Thursday. Strong hold from Sunday. It will need to continue holding like this if it wants to make 2.5m. Not bad for Iron Man 3. The holidays are gone but it continues to be a viable choice for moviegoers. Outstanding for Pee Mak Phra Khanong. It is the only film in the top 10 to make more today than last Thursday. The Great Gatsby also had a good hold. While it could have held better because of the demographic, the long runtime will push people away from seeing it on weekdays. Great daily hold for The Call.

Fast & Furious 6 previewEarly Wednesday pre-sales 1. Fast & Furious 6 - 3,766 Those preview pre-sales are below Battleship's and Sherlock Holmes 2's. The number isn't bad but walk-ins will be pretty strong for this movie. It could still beat Battleship and Sherlock Holmes 2 today.

Fast & Furious is off and running. Those admissions are up 103.2% from Fast Five opening day pre-sales. Good holds for Star Trek Into Darkness and Iron Man 3. Strong for The Great Gatsby. Not good for Christmas Rose. WOW for Pee Mak Phra Khanong. Awful for 21 and Over. Decent for Quartet. The Call is still catching viewers. Good rebound for Searching for Sugar Man from last Thursday.

Re: HK 5/23 THU: Fast & Furious 6 +76% from Fast 5; Pee Mak
| Thursday adm. | | | May 23 |
Rank | Title | LW | TW | % chg |
1 | Fast & Furious 6 | -- | 21,137 | -- |
2 | Star Trek Into Darkness | 13,513 | 4,940 | -63.4% |
3 | Pee Mak Phra Khanong | 2,713 | 3,685 | +35.8% |
4 | Iron Man 3 | 10,214 | 3,462 | -66.1% |
5 | Christmas Rose | -- | 3,368 | -- |
6 | The Great Gatsby | 6,661 | 2,954 | -55.7% |
7 | 21 and Over | -- | 1,271 | -- |
8 | The Call | 2,990 | 756 | -74.7% |
9 | A Chorus of Angels | -- | 584 | -- |
10 | Searching for Sugar Man | 605 | 471 | -22.1% |
Average hold for Star Trek 2. The Friday holiday inflated Thursday admissions so it's not a bad hold per se, but it could have held better. Amazing for Pee Mak Phra Khanong. It should pass $550,000 this weekend. OK for Iron Man 3. People turned out in droves on the holiday to see it so it will see slightly larger drops today and tomorrow compared with the rest of the holdovers. Pretty weak for Christmas Rose. OK hold for The Great Gatsby. Yes, it held up better than Star Trek 2 and Iron Man 3 but dramas are least affected by holidays, even long running time ones. Terrible for 21 and Over. They should have just canceled its release if their big master plan was to release it 2 weeks before The Hangover 3 (and they even scheduled it for next week before they thought that was a bad idea...). The Call is no longer the special one. Its had some great legs. Good for A Chorus of Angels. Admirable for Searching for Sugar Man. Great for Fast & Furious 6. Opening day admissions is up an incredible 76% from Fast Five. Bonus for Fast & Furious 6 is that WOM is at a sparkling 100% with over 50 ratings in from Wednesday night and Thursday. If we look at the comparison chart between the last two Fast & Furious films,
| Daily admissions (OW) | | | | | |
| Wednesday | Thursday | Friday | Saturday | Sunday | Total |
Fast Five | | 12,031 | 14,537 | 26,557 | 22,939 | 76,064 |
Fast & Furious 6 | 11,537 | 21,137 | | | | 32,674 |
Gap | 11,537 | 20,643 | 6,106 | -20,451 | -43,390
we see that Fast & Furious 6 will certainly beat Fast 5 in admissions and gross. Fast & Furious 6 is almost halfway there to beating Fast 5's admissions with 3 very big days still to come. If you take Wednesday out, it would only need to add Saturday's admissions to beat Fast Five. Fast & Furious 6 is expected to nearly double Fast Five's admissions with that Thursday number. A good comparison for Fast & Furious 6 would be Overheard 2 which caught fire 2 summers ago.
| Daily admissions (OW) | | | | | |
| Wednesday | Thursday | Friday | Saturday | Sunday | Total |
Overheard 2 | | 18,374 | 26,363 | 51,196 | 55,552 | 151,485 |
Fast & Furious 6 | 11,537 | 21,137 | | | | 32,674 |
Gap | 11,537 | 14,300 | -12,063 | -63,259 | -118,811
Fast & Furious 6 is up about 3,000 on Thursday and has a 14,000 admissions edge over Overheard 2 heading into Friday. What separates the 2 is that Overheard 2 had an outstanding weekend whereas Fast & Furious 6's lead will come from Wednesday-Friday. There's a chance that Fast & Furious 6 could beat Overheard 2's Saturday admissions if walk-ins come out in full force but pre-sales are much higher this time around and since it's an action blockbuster admissions will be more spread out. For gross, Fast & Furious 6 is looking at a projected 1.2-1.3m including Wednesday, which means it will more than double Fast 5 money wise.
| Friday adm. | (so far) | | | May 24 |
Rank | Title | LW | TW | WKD % chg | QD % chg |
1 | Fast & Furious 6 | -- | 8,954 | -- | +39.8% |
2 | Star Trek Into Darkness | 12,123 | 3,141 | -74.1% | +47.3% |
3 | The Great Gatsby | 6,572 | 2,303 | -65.0% | +92.6% |
4 | Iron Man 3 | 14,745 | 1,851 | -87.4% | +44.4% |
5 | Christmas Rose | -- | 1,348 | -- | +38.8% |
6 | Pee Mak Phra Khanong | 1,409 | 1,021 | -27.5% | +47.5% |
7 | 21 and Over | -- | 570 | -- | +41.4% |
8 | The Call | 2,180 | 355 | -83.7% | +45.5% |
9 | A Chorus of Angels | 374 | 349 | -6.7% | -- |
10 | Searching for Sugar Man | 715 | 259 | -63.8% | +42.3% |
Very strong increase in pre-sales for Fast & Furious 6 on Friday. Fast Five had a marginal 13% gain on Friday so this is an indicator that it's not frontloaded and that it should play well into the weekend. You can really see the disparity between Star Trek 2, The Great Gatsby and Iron Man 3. All 3 had bad holds from last Friday (with The Great Gatsby least affected and Iron Man 3 most affected by the holiday). Still not good for Christmas Rose. Excellent for Pee Mak Phra Khanong. It's not playing like a normal horror movie. The fact that it's Thailand's biggest movie ever might be having some momentum among people plus WOM remains very high. Garbage for 21 and Over. Now that attention has turned to others, The Call is having steep declines. Very good for A Chorus of Angels. Searching for Sugar Man will bounce back with walk-ins.

Re: HK 5/23 THU: Fast & Furious 6 +76% from Fast 5; Pee Mak
Thursday Actuals (May 23)
1. Fast & Furious 6 - $170,034/$274,373 (opening day actual) 2. Star Trek Into Darkness - $38,644 (-75%)/$1,427,258 3. Pee Mak Phra Khanong - $28,339 (-8%)/$408,340 4. Big opening day for Fast & Furious 6. Bad holds for Star Trek 2, Iron Man 3 and The Great Gatsby. Superb hold for Pee Mak Phra Khanong. Not good for Christmas Rose. Awful for 21 and Over.

Not bad for Fast & Furious 6. I did see admissions go down twice today so it might have had more admissions than what's there. Fast & Furious 6 had a lower % increase than Fast 5 on Friday but they both saw nearly identical admissions increases on Friday.
| Daily admissions (OW) | | | | | |
| Wednesday | Thursday | Friday | Saturday | Sunday | Total |

Gap | 11,537 | 20,643 | 29,727 | 3,170 | -19,769
Fast & Furious 6 will pass Fast 5's admissions today.

Gap | 11,537 | 14,300 | 11,558 | -39,638 | -95,190
Fast & Furious 6's Thursday advantage has been wiped out with the weaker Friday. Terrible holds for Star Trek 2, The Great Gatsby and Iron Man 3. Fantastic hold for Pee Mak Phra Khanong. Bland for Christmas Rose. 21 and Over is doing bad. The Call gets silenced. OK for Quartet. Good for Searching for Sugar Man.
