2013-2014 NFL Discussion
The NFL season begins TONIGHT! One of my favorite weekends of the year.
There is hope for every team. Yes, even for the Jets. (LOL JK)

Re: 2013-2014 NFL Discussion
So who does everyone think will be the first pick? The consensus of the mocks seem to think it is between OT Jockel from Texas A&M and Eric Fisher OT from Eastern Michigan. Both are very good OL who could be great players. Being a Chiefs fan, I would be happy with that, would prefer if they could trade down, but I am not sure if anybody would trade up.

He would be safe, and I think he will be a great player. As a Chiefs fan, this is the first time they have ever had the #1 pick, so it will be fun there.

Re: 2013-2014 NFL Discussion
The question is if they take a QB with their 2nd rounder... or suck again this year and get a better QB next year.
As for the Patriots... I REALLY hope they take Robert Woods. But there is a 0.1% chance of that happening.

Re: 2013-2014 NFL Discussion
If you mean the Chiefs, they have a QB in Alex Smith, and they gave up too much for him to take a QB early. They might take one in the later rounds.

Smith is an improvement over Cassel, and he does have a huge chip on his shoulder

Does this mean we're going to have two Madden 25's now?

Re: 2013-2014 NFL Discussion
wow 3 LT in the first 4 picks, the first two are very good and will start right away. Not sold on Johnson. I like the Fisher pick, he is a big guy and very good. He looked great at the Senior Bowl. The Chiefs needed OL, but will probably trade Albert to get a second rounder.

Patriots trade out of their spot... again.
Glad they got 3 extra picks out of it... but wish they would have gone after Robert Woods.

Mingo. Browns are going to have a nice defense. I'll be watching a lot of 16-9 losses this year.

Re: 2013-2014 NFL Discussion
I can't believe the Vikings traded a 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 7th pick to get Cordarrelle Patterson.
The Patriots got the steal of the draft, so far.
I'm glad Dallas went with the Center Frederick, from Wisconsin. We have to protect Romo.

Geno Smith might turn out to be a decent QB in the NFL be in no way is he a silver bullet for the Jets. They need a lot of help.

Barkley may suck but had he gone last year, he would have been a first round pick which is not only more money but gives you more opportunity. Teams expect more from first rounders yes but they also give them more chances (see Mark Sanchez and Blaine Gabbert). QBs taken after the third round don't get much and have to make full advantage of any small opportunity they get. If they screw that up they may never get another shot. I bet his agent told him he would be the #1 pick this year if he waited.

Really deep draft this year. A lot of talent went undrafted. Glad the Patriots doubled up on WR's.

I'm glad Dallas went with the Center Frederick, from Wisconsin. We have to protect Romo. Yeah that was crazy, way too many picks for an unproven WR. I thought maybe they were going for Te'o. I was actually extremely surprised the Patriots passed on him. Patterson is a special, special athlete. Unreal blend of straight line speed & agility for his size. He is Percy Harvin at 6'2 instead of 5'10. He actually is a very safe pick Wide receiver busts are the guys who do nothing with the ball in their hands, and then struggle to actually get the ball in their hands. The trade is a very even trade. They moved up from 52 to 29. They only LOST their late 3rd, late 4th, and late 7th round picks in exchange to get Patterson. Hardly a treasure trove. Patterson is instantly one of the leagues most dangerous players with the ball in his hands. Even if he only touches the ball on special teams, bubble screens, and end arounds, he will be a major factor & that alone makes him being a "bust" pretty much impossible. Even if he never develops his down field game, he will still be a difference any time he has the ball in his hands. He should be no Troy Williams, who was useless with the ball in his hands. The Vikings easily had the best draft. Floyd was a top 5 guy, Patterson is the most physically gifted play maker in the draft (cannot imagine why one would have Tavon Austin over him), and Rhodes is a stud. All should be instant impact for the Vikings next season, who already added Greg Jennings AFTER making the play offs last season.
