It can't be THAT bad ;). Part of me hopes it doesn't open at my local theater because if it did I'd probably go see it and I have a feeling I'd be better off waiting for Blu-ray ;).

It is bad. I saw it about three weeks ago, but the embarho was just lifted. They put an embargo on it until the day of the US-release for a reason...

I might still see this based on the cast. But I'm getting serious License to Wed vibes (Robin Williams playing a priest doesn't help matters). Neither does the 0% RT score.

Ben Barnes cast as a guy of Colombian descent is already concerning. lol As if Hollywood has a puzzling shortage of Hispanic/Latino actors.

You say concerning, I say borderline offensive.

Post Re: The Big Wedding
Can we charge The Big Wedding with crimes against humanity? Remarkably, the film takes its A-list cast and strands them in one of the most repugnant, laugh-free comedies I've seen in a long while. It's most reminiscent of the 2001 bomb Town & Country (also starring Diane Keaton), which similarly attracted a heaping of big names in a would-be "risque" romantic comedy for adults. This movie is not funny, romantic or interesting in any way. Calling it a 90-minute sitcom would be charitable. It's just bad, through and through. The worst performance in the entire film is given by Robert De Niro, which is depressing to say immediately following his strong work in Silver Linings Playbook. Keaton is a duplication of many of her past roles; Katherine Heigl, Topher Grace, Amanda Seyfried and Ben Barnes (despite being apparently spray-tanned to vaguely resemble a Colombian) at least don't embarrass themselves much. The film's most likable character (who is treated like a pariah by the film's setup for some reason) is essayed by Susan Sarandon, who brings a slight spark to her role. Wedding movies and family reunion films are tried and true traditions. The Big Wedding is a textbook example of how not to make one. D

Haha, that's funny, when my colleagues and I went out of the press screening for this, most of the compared it to Town & Country right away.

I saw this today with the lowest of expectations and it wasn't completely terrible. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't entertained through most of the movie and chuckled a few times. It was fine as a sitcomy time waster, but definitely better suited for a Redbox rental and not a trip to the theater. If I paid for this (I used my Movie Pass) I definitely would have been annoyed but I found it cute enough.

5/10

I understand the terrible reviews but I didn't think it was all that terrible myself. It was entertaining enough.
