 Session 9
Session 9 Quote: Session 9 is a 2001 American psychological horror film directed by Brad Anderson. It stars David Caruso, Peter Mullan, Stephen Gevedon, Paul Guilfoyle, Josh Lucas, and Brendan Sexton III. The plot focuses on the growing tension within an asbestos removal crew working at an abandoned mental asylum while the truth regarding a former patient's disturbed past is progressively revealed through the listening of the patient's hypnosis recorded sessions. The film takes place in and around the Danvers State Mental Hospital in Danvers, Massachusetts. The massive building in Danvers, which was part of the National Register of Historic Places, was partially demolished in 2006.

It is a very fine horror movie that I would recommend to every fan of horror movies out there who can enjoy good horror that goes beyond blood, gore and cheap scares. The movie is not scary, at all, but it has good atmosphere. The setting itself is very creepy, but it is the plot that makes this movie. When it started out, I was expecting just another hanuted house horror film. But in contrast, this movie was something completely different. I must say that the final twist is somewhat predictable because it reminded me a bit of Identity, but that doesn't really weaken its effect. The movie needs some time until it gets going and not all performances are great, but it is an effective and throughly interesting horror movie that makes you rethink the whole movie again once it's over.

The movie was filmed probably about 20 minutes from where I live...I watched the first 45 and after not much happened at all, I turned it off...That was over two years ago, so maybe I'll try again in the near future. Jesus though I still get the creeps driving by that place even without really seeing much of the movie...A lot of fucked up things went on in there.

 Re: Session 9
I've never seen this. I thought Transsiberian and The Call were great thrillers, and really enjoyed The Machinist. I didn't realize until recently the same guy did this movie. I remember hearing this was a good one. I love horror movies and am definitely interested in checking this out now. Too bad it's not on Blu-ray. Is it on Netflix Instant? I don't have Instant but a friend does so when I go over to their house I could watch it. Otherwise I will see if my video store has it this week.

 Re: Session 9
Watched it on Instant today. Didn't do much for me at all. I found it fairly dull with a twist reminiscent of Identity but in a movie that isn't nearly as good.
