Re: Germany Box-Office Thread: Django is huge
I'm a believer of "never say never" so who knows... Nobody saw INTOUCHABLES becoming the biggest hit since AVATAR...
AVATAR of course will add probably another 0.4m or 0.5m admissions with Double & Triple Features...

Re: Germany Box-Office Thread: Django is huge
It's crazy how huge Intouchables has become....and yet, a far cry from Avatar's total admissions even then!
One thing I am absolutely and completely sure of, though - we'll never see a year like 2001 again at the German box-office.

Again, never say never... I've seen so many ups and downs in 29 years in this business...

Re: Germany Box-Office Thread: H&G starts off well
What I found very interesting is that last weekend, four movies in the Top 5 were rated 16!
Any idea the last time something similar happened, Mark?

So Bullet to the Head is opening this weekend. Any news on how it is (or will) perform?

Re: Germany Box-Office Thread: H&G starts off well
Badly. Early trend puts it at 50,000 admissions, less than half of Parker's opening weekend and 33% under The Last Stand.

Re: Germany Box-Office Thread: H&G starts off well
Looks like G.I. Joe II will do in its 1st weekend about 88 % of GIJ1's total in admission (and outgross its total on opening weekend)...

Re: Germany Box-Office Thread: H&G starts off well
I hope you Germans go and see The Escape Plan.
Germany is one of the top countries for fans of Arnie and Sly, but whenever their movies get released, they don't exactly light up the box office. Kind of annoying.

Re: Germany Box-Office Thread: H&G starts off well
It's still called THE TOMB here...
Personally, I swore a couple of years ago that I will never ever pay money for a Schwarzenegger movie in response to the executions happening under the governator's watch in California....

Re: Germany Box-Office Thread: H&G starts off well
Not that surprising. I never got the sense Hangover 2 is as disliked here as it is in the US. Also, the weather is very theater friendly these days and it has A LOT of showtimes per day here. And most of them are packed. Austrians & Germans are very loyal to the franchises they love.

Re: Germany Box-Office Thread: H&G starts off well
H3 is still on course to open to close to 1.4m admissions (H2 did 1.2m). However weather was really, really nasty the last couple of days, with lots of flooding and more and more Areas in Southern and Eastern Germany are declared disaster areas....
Nice weather is expected for next weekend so expect huuuuuge drops next week...
