WOW, look at this roster for Memoirs of a Geisha.

Rob Marshall Director - Chicago (1 nom)
Steven Spielberg Producer - Schindler's List (9 noms, 3 wins)
Douglas Wick Producer - Gladiator (2 noms, 1 win)
Ron Bass Writer - Rain Man (1 nom, 1 win)
Akiva Goldsman Writer - A Beautiful Mind (1 nom, 1 win)
Dion Beebe Director of Photography - Chicago, Collateral (1 nom)
Pietro Scalia Editor - JFK, Black Hawk Down, Gladiator (4 noms, 2 wins)
John Williams Composer - Star Wars, Harry Potter, ET (42 noms, 5 wins)
John Myhre Production Designer - Chicago, Elizabeth (2 noms, 1 win)
Colleen Atwood Costume Designer - Chicago, Sleepy Hollow (4 noms, 1 win)

That's right, this production team has a total of 63 Oscar nominations and 15 wins.

I guess we know who's the safe bet to win the gold in 06.

This is not news. Geisha has been billed as an oscar contender since its cast is announced. I wish Zhang Ziyi could get a best actress nomination. Gong Li will definitely be a contender for supporting.

Honestly, this is already a shoo-in for at least a Best Picture nom. It has an amazing crew and stars the who-is-who of Asian cinema.

I also read the story of the movie a while ago when Spielberg was still attached to it. It sounds like a pure oscar bait.

I never called it news

I would say the least impressive thing about the film is its cast, in terms of Oscar chances. I love Michelle Yeoh, and Ken, and Zhang but I'm also a realist.

Too bad the Academy is xenophobic, otherwise we could see a complete sweep.

Too bad Munich wasn't on my radar. Then again, it wasn't on Spielberg's either. :hahaha:

Spielberg had Munich on his radar last year. He stopped production to do War of the Worlds and was waiting for Indiana Jones but that fell through.

Love doesn't exist. Just like Ronald McDonald and Jesus.

Munich will win BP. This will win technical awards, nothing more.
