As is every adjusted for inflation list. But that's how big it would have been today had it sold as many tickets.

Re: THE HOBBIT: An Unexpected Journey (WW ASSAULT) - AUS REC
I think the update was on Thursday so that total should have been for Wednesday. The drops over weekends are quite big but it should marginally reach $700m OS with a modest $60m from China.

Shame it won't beat TDKR, but it will get passed $1b.

It better starts dropping better starting with tomorrow or it might still miss $1b if it flops in China.

Re: THE HOBBIT: An Unexpected Journey (WW ASSAULT) - AUS REC
It is basically down to China. If it does $50 million in China, that should be enough.
Then again, if it gets close enough, WB will make sure it gets to $1 billion.
Remember when The Dark Knight suddenly got past $1 billion thanks to "late grosses from Ecuador".
I guess The Hobbit can suddenly make another $4-5 million in Costa Rica or something...

Let's not forget that THE HOBBIT will have Double and Triple features in the future in countries where those are popular...

It should make to 655 overseas in current markets and around 300 million domestic (a bit more maybe)...
Should get 1 billion WW unless it makes less then 40 million in China

It's at 921Million so far, it will make 1b. Still, going in i expected 1b OS total not WW so it's a bit dissapointing to me, especially since i thought the movie was great.

Depends. If it does less than $40m in China, which it probably won't, but still, than $1b might be in danger.

It has 3D, so no worries for China. They lap that shit up.

Re: THE HOBBIT: An Unexpected Journey (WW ASSAULT) - AUS REC
The biggest problem was Japan, had it done well there it would have easily made $1b by now. None of the markets had THAT huge of a drop from the original trilogy.
China could follow track but I think with 3D being big in China it could make the needed $50m+ in China.

It's like back when that bore Potter made a boatload of cash while FOTR did okay. Japan sucks. They make stupid video games and support stupid movies.

Japan is the most fickle market. Just odd tastes.

So, even if it does really well in China, Skyfall is still winning domestically, overseas and worldwide.
Wow

Re: THE HOBBIT: An Unexpected Journey (WW ASSAULT) - AUS REC
With holdovers it should get past $650m and close to $660m. It needs $45m+ from China and maybe additional $2m-$3m if it fails to make $300m domestically.

How can it miss $660m? Will finish with about $665m from current markets.
