This is going to be a very challenging project, but I believe Ang Lee is a great choice. He has a level of sensitivity and style similar to, say, Jane Campion, but is also a capable big-budget technician.

They're expensive to make and therefore risky. Gladiator came along, it was a huge hit, both critically and commercially. Then the copycats started with Troy, King Arthur, Master & Commander and Kingdom of Heaven, which didn't fare as well. So the studios decided to add fantasy to it because that's an easier sell, and now we have Clash of the Titans and 300 style movies. If you still want historic battle movies, you've got to look at your nearest rental shop instead of the multiplex; Ironclad among others. It's the only viable way to make them, keep the costs low because the risk is high on this type of picture. I miss that 2000-2004 era when these pictures were getting made.

God, so do I. I love historical epics, though I prefer the ones without a major fantasy component. Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World is my favorite film ever, full stop.

I would have loved a sequel to Master and Commander, truly epic film.

Jennifer Lawrence would be perfect for this role. Cleopatra was a young woman, only living to 38, and she wasn't stick-thin like Jolie, she was more plump like Lawrence. If they're doing a biopic of her life, then Lawrence would be my pick (it's easier to age someone with prosthetics, but to make Jolie look young would be impossible). The only thing she doesn't have is that Egyptian dark look and Cleopatra was regarded as a true beauty which Lawrence doesn't have, but I'm sure she can die her hair and wear make-up (she's used to that). Initially, I thought that Mila Kunis could do it because of the beauty demands, but I'm not sure she's ready for this and she's too thin.

But then, I suppose for this film, they're going to want a big name to headline it. I'm certainly interested to see how this film goes ahead. Not interested to see it in the slightest right now though.

Lawrence could nail it. Because she's perfect in every way. One could say... infallible.
