 Re: Django Unchained
HOLY SHIT way too slow. A good dozen scenes needed to be cut completely in half. Good film but QT cannot restrain himself, too excessive. In no way could I see Will Smith as Django, I thought Foxx was great, as was DiCaprio, Waltz, and SAMUEL L. JACKSON! But...the hand shake scene. The dinner scene. The opening scene. The mask joke. Django convincing the men he was a bounty hunter. So many scenes needed to be trimmed significantly. The film feels as bloated as Sherman Klump. Way too self indulgent. The entire film felt like the final 30 minutes of 'Return of the King'.

Part of me really wishes they had given the cast & premise to Gore Verbinski or JJ Abrams or OMG Michael Bay. I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more. This movie doesnt know if it is a crowd pleaser or artsy gore flick. It tries and fails miserably at walking the line.

Apparently it was her. She seemed to be killed in the shack when Django came back to attack the plantation. She was in the shack with the dog owners and the guy in the bath tub that got his dick shot off.

 Re: Django Unchained
What's so great about that character? It wasn't Boba Fett. It's just another masked person to be killed. Nothing special 'bout that.

That is perhaps a bit of a jump, though I'm only going by what he sort of said (that filmmakers eventually reach a point where they cannot continue to make quality films like they used to). So if a filmmaker (and I don't mean Tarantino here, just a random Somebody) used to make incredible films, and now he only makes excellent ones, he should then retire? It has been a bit since I saw In glorious Bastards, but I like thatd more than Django. I thought it was slow at times too, but cant recall any specific scenes.

I'm just saying upon first glance you think there might be something cool about her and there isn't. Since it was Zoe, I first agreed with you, but now realize it was just him hiding her face, and it's more of a cool Easter Egg like Peter Jackson and Cate Blanchett in Hot Fuzz

 Re: Django Unchained
Yeah, it was pretty great, dragged a little too much in the middle, and should have ended a little sooner. However, Dr. King Shultz is right up there with my all time favorite characters who, I'm sorry, is quite different than Hans Landa, and the handshake scene is one of my all time favorite Tarantino scenes, so epic.

"100 Black Coffins" is one of my favorite original songs of the year.

 Re: Django Unchained
Yeah, it isn't one of my favorites because it didn't wow me and leave me walking on air like some of his other films, but it also has his best character bond between Schultz and Django.

 Re: Django Unchained
That one was funny, and the two had fantastic chemistry, no doubt about it, but it did not have the same emotional appeal.
That being said, Pulp Fiction, I liked more.
But I will say, ironically, Django was kinda flat when compared to films like Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, and Inglorious Basterds, so yeah I was a little underwhelmed, and yeah, the last twenty minutes or should have not been there as the final battle should have happened right after the handshake scene.

The scene where he tells Django the German legend by the fire is told is so moving.
