I don't know why people come up with admissions and 3D when TDKR is talked. Is that its only merit for argument?
As far as the comparison with TDK goes I think it did great in OS but could have done better.

Re: THE DARK KNIGHT Rises (INTL.)
Imax boost for TDKR?, that's bullshit, the format is not even that popular OS and I know imax ticket price is the same or slightly higher in some places compared to regular ticket prices

As far as the comparison with TDK goes I think it did great in OS but could have done better. What do you mean its only merit? When you have numerous films that wouldn't have reached a billion without 3D, then it is a very relevant point to bring up. TF3, TS3, Alice In Wonderland, and Pirates 4 all wouldn't have reached a billion without the 15-20% boost from 3D.

Re: THE DARK KNIGHT Rises (INTL.)
That's all part of release strategy to earn more money. Did anyone stop WB or Nolan to make TDKR in 3D? Imagine TDKR doing less than $400m without IMAX screens in US. I am not saying it is not impressive but to demean other records just to satisfy yourself for argument is stupid.
For example we don't talk AS much about adjusted overall, cause that way we won't have a new movies record at all as we will have to put an asterisk sign over all the movies. Plus who knows if TDKR would have made less if it was infact released in 3D? (again don't take the sentence to your grave cause none of us will never know sure we can speculate)

(again don't take the sentence to your grave cause none of us will never know sure we can speculate) TDKR would have made $400m without IMAX. In fact, around $420m. It also would have made more than it's going to without a mass shooting during one of its midnight shows. Every time you bring up IMAX, I'll bring up the shooting because the effect between the two of them was very similar in opposite directions ($30m boost from IMAX vs. $30m loss from the shooting). I'd argue that the fact this will make as much as it's going to in the domestic market is very impressive considering the shooting and media coverage. Meanwhile, Nolan chose to stay away from 3D because IMAX is the more immersive format. I'm glad he did because I've been far more impressed with the IMAX footage in TDK, M:I4, and TDKR than any 3D footage I've ever seen.

I wasn't trying to talk about format in itself. What I said was completely different than what you made it.

Re: THE DARK KNIGHT Rises (INTL.)
If the legs in China are strong, then maybe it can actually top Transformers: Dark of the Moon worldwide and end up as #5 of all-time WW. Needs another $123 million worldwide to achieve that. I think another ~$15 million will come from the USA. It will be close $1.1 billion and #7 worldwide is definitely happening, though.
It certainly performed according to expectations overseas, improving over TDK by at least 35% when all is said and done.

Re: THE DARK KNIGHT Rises (INTL.)
Apparently, both it and Spider-man are far ahead of the Avengers at that same point in its run.
Hard to believe, I would have thought that debuting them on the same day would respectively cost them enough to end below the Avenger's total.

Re: THE DARK KNIGHT Rises (INTL.)
9th-biggest 2D-release ever internationally.
Hehe, out of the eight 2D-movies ahead of it overseas, four are Harry Potter movies and two are Pirates of the Caribbean films.
With some luck, it'll move up to #9 for the biggest 2D-releases.
Right now it's looking at al-time #7 domestically and all-time #7 worldwide, however just #17 all-time overseas (2nd and 3D).
I suppose that just goes on to show the strength of 3D in overseas markets.

It has done much better than I expected overseas. I didn't think it would make over $550M.

Re: THE DARK KNIGHT Rises (INTL.)
It was going to go 600 million overseas...
If ASM had the original cast it likley would done the same as well likely.

Keeps chugging along nicely. Hope it tops $650m OS. Is there any other market left to open for TDKR ?

Re: THE DARK KNIGHT Rises (INTL.)
Also I believe without the shooting it would have easily crossed Dark of the Moon's WW total, would have still lost to Avengers domestic, OS and WW total and mostly Hobbit's OS and WW total.
