 Re: Resident Evil 5 (INTL)
Japan
Resident Evil 4 Opening Weekend: ¥698 million ($8.2 million), Fri-Sun: ¥899 million ($10.6 million) Resident Evil 5 Opening Weekend: ¥640 million ($8.1 million), Fri-Sun: ¥810 million ($10.3 million)*
*estimate
Resident Evil 4 grossed ¥4.7 billion ($56.8 million), so it's looks likely Resident Evil 5 will clear ¥4 billion ($50 million) and probably outgross it's NA total this year.

 Re: Resident Evil 5 (INTL)
Looks like this one might actually top $300 million WW this time.
This is kind of like Step Up. Only overseas numbers keep it going after this one.

 Re: Resident Evil 5 (INTL)
Why isn't Underworld so huge overseas? Is it the video-game factor only?

David wrote: Why isn't Underworld so huge overseas? Is it the video-game factor only? I think the video game fanbase actually does play a very big role here. It is also 3D. Afterall, Underworld: Awakening made more than any non-3D Resident Evil film overseas. Only Afterlife topped it. Basically it was Afterlife that made the RE-series break out. Its HUGE OS gross probably makes people forget that the first three films didn't even top $100 million OS.

 Re: Resident Evil 5 (INTL)
Very impressive. Topping RE4 OS and WW looks like a guarantee. Its domestic gross are also respectable in terms of how the original movie was though ofcourse none of them have broken out in US as Fast Five.

Both are definitely not a guarantee, especially not worldwide.

 Re: Resident Evil 5 (INTL)
Wow after the opening it just faltered but then again Taken 2 was big. Overall it is still successful but then the budget is also soaring. We might actually see the series ending soon.
