I have to see it again a few more times before finally deciding if I like this one more than TDK. My only real complaint I have for now is that there are far too few Batman scenes. A+

Depends how you see him. He certainly wasn't a dark character in the 60's TV series, nor was he a dark character in the Detective comics. Just depends how you see him. Batman is a symbol and an icon, not a 2-dimensional character that Nolan tells the world what he's like. It's for the viewer to decide. To me, Batman is better as campy fun. It just works better, because nobody can take a guy dressed as a bat seriously.

But if you see him as nothing other than campy fun, then you too see him as a 2-dimensional character.

I don't think he said that, he said he preferred that version. It's not like a campy version still can't have solid acting and plots. Ask the Spiderman films that. I don't understand why there is such a stigma against camp. In the right hands a campy Batman could be so much fun. TAS has a lot of camp to it throughout, but its perfectly fleshed throughout of the series.

I personally still prefer Burton's Black Comedy Gothic approach.

And I have trouble seeing the premise of a kid who saw his parents murdered, thus creating quite a bit of a psychotic break leading to his decision to beat the hell out of criminals dressed up as the thing that terrifies him most in the world, as light comedy.

But hey, enjoy Batman & Robin.

Yes he did. He is saying that making campy Batman is, to him, the only way to make a Batman film work. Which is just as much "2-dimensional" as what he says Nolan did.

I have no problem with him not liking what Nolan did with Batman. But Batman can be made in various ways. He has a very long history. But I think it's pretty much a fact that Batman IS a darker superhero than other very-well-known ones like Spider-Man, SuperMan and now Iron Man. Batman has no superpower (which grounds him in reality more than these other superheroes) and his suit doesn't give him impossible abilities like Iron Man. He operates 99% of the time at night. His enemies are for the most part psychopaths with no particular supernatural element. His headquarters are a cavern in the ground which has bats in it.

Just to comment on a recent statement from some idiot Brian... something.

"The Avengers could have had that shit wrapped up in under 10 minutes. including shwarma break!"

Yes, and Superman could have annihilated Loki's invading forces in 3 seconds, including impregnating Lois with his bastard child, but it doesn't make Superman Returns a good movie.

Post Re: The Dark Knight Rises
I'd give it a B. There were moments during it I'd have given it a C but the ending left it on a high note.

The Good:
- Everything Hathaway.
- Levitt's character.
- The final montage was very well done.
- The implication that Robin is in training, perhaps to be the next Batman. I could see that happening with someone else directing and Nolan producing.
- The Talia reveal and the flashback
- The ending which like Inception's ending left different people assuming different things. I would like to believe like some in the theater seemed to that Wayne lived, that would be nice, but personally I thought Alfred was imagining. Much like Wayne imagining Neeson earlier in the movie.

The Bad:
- Uninspired dialogue.
- Fox and Gordon are boring.
- The movie needed about 30% less fighting, much of it was boring filler.
- The cops constantly looking like incompetent idiots.
- The extremely predictable killing of henchmen by Bane. That was paint by numbers.
- The extreme male domination of the film, alleviated a little by Talia and Selina but still suffocating.
- A single sniper could have taken Bane out many times. He was not very intimidating in that sense, it never seemed realistic that he'd live so long. Like when he was ripping up the picture of Gordon outside.
- Nolan's vision is generally drab and dismal.
- The Batman voice was very very silly at times. Like during all the times he was talking to Selina while in costume.

The WTF:
- There's no reason to think that the masses would want the organized criminals out of the prison regardless of if there were flaws or ethical issues with how they were put in there and for how long.
- Early on, a guy puts a gun to Catwoman's head and she kicks him in the shins. He goes down, lets say his shins are broken and he's in pain - still he's awake, alive and has a loaded gun. But the scene continues on as if he's somehow out of commission and not a factor.
- In the pit it looked like there was a rope leading nearly to the top. It's hard to believe all those guys in there couldn't work together to figure some use of their available resources, including rocks and stone, clothing and personal effects, to get them all out.
- Tom Hardy's voice sounded very dubbed at times, such as on the plane in the beginning. It didn't seem like it was coming from the person but more like over a loudspeaker on the plane or something.
- Player running down the field and the whole thing caving in and he doesn't notice anything odd till he gets to the end zone? The whole sequence was too fake in looks and character actions.

A sniper? With the threat of being nuked? Yes. I'm sure someone would've done that.

I don't think you understood the movie. Which is sad. I also think you lack common sense. But that is another issue.

Well it happened quick, that's possible. But it seemed in the lower area of the body. I suppose his balls then. Still seemed unlikely he was not a factor.

Take a four-inch stiletto to the balls and then tell me he'd be ready for action ten seconds later.

You're right -- I'm a fanboy for suggesting that that a high heel shot to the groin would cause someone to be doubled over for, oh, more than ten seconds or so.
