TDKR seems to have upped the ante in terms of the action. The marketing for this should be easy.

They need to release another teaser to silence the critics. This is going to BLOW easily.

I agree.. Ths movie is going to Blow.. Even moreso is that it will be heavily overshadowed by The AVENGERS..

By the time TDKR opens, The Avengers will be yesterday's news. They're release a freaking 2 months apart... ;)

If the AVENGERS makes the $$$ it's going to make(and it's going to make ALOT) Then I fail to see how this will be yesterdays news, especially when TDKR isn't exactly lighting up the internet world right now with positive WOM on any of the pics released from the production.. WB and Nolan never should've allowed any pics or set videos to be released as much as what there doing.. It's actually hurting them more than benefiting them.. I don't recall them doing this when TDK was being made like there doing for this movie..

Even if TDKR dissapoints, it'll still make more than The Avengers potential.

The next teaser will shut everyone up including yourself. This is going to be the biggest opener domestically and will surely own 2012. At its minimum it'll do $450m on the strength of the opening alone, if it's anywhere near as good as TDK it'll be hitting $500m with ease. This is going to gross at least $180m on opening weekend and should have much better legs than Harry POtter 7-2. If it is as good as TDK, then you can bet on $550m+ Domestic.

I have a hard time seeing how The Avengers can break $450m even at its highest. I think $400m is more realistic.

It's Internet nerds who will be there on opening weekend. ;)

I'm talking bout the nerdiest of nerds, that bitch about someone's hairdo (like magnus). Yes, they will be there on opening weekend (day even... heck, night!), vastly outnumbered by the more casual fans and general audience, that doesn't obsess over every detail. I don't see this negativity in regards to TDKR, some are not liking Catwoman's outfit, sure, what else? Set photos are not representative of the final footage, a lot is lighting and framing and stuff.

Also, a little scepticism bringing down expectations can be a good thing.

You're old and hadn't quite turned your troll eyes toward Nolan in '07, so I'll forgive you for forgetting that the very first image of the Joker was a pic of Ledger stepping out of his trailer in costume on location. There were a ton of spy stills in TDK. That's what happens when you go on location with a very high-profile film. (see also: Chris Evans vs. later-to-be-CGI-aliens in The Avengers.)

I know I didn't complain before, but these spoilerish set pics are getting really out of hand. Now there are pics of what happens to the Tumbler in the movie. I gotta say I'm suprised at how much has leaked so far, but hopefully when they stop filming in Pittsburgh the production will amp up security.

Are they just not trying hard enough or is Pitsburgh really hard to section off and guard? Seems like anyone can get photos to The Avengers and TDKR.

Yeah, too bad the AVENGERS set pics looks light years better than what's coming out of TDKR though..

Er, in what regard may i ask? The Avengers is definately more showy whereas TDKR is more gritty....just like the final movies will surely be. ;)

It's so exciting to have perhaps the two biggest, 3 biggest (if you count Spiderman) comic book franchises releasing so close to each other in one year.

It's going to be classic year full of matchups....

Snow White vs. Snow White
The Avengers vs. The Amazing Spiderman vs. The Dark Knight Rises
Madagascar 3 vs. Brave vs. Ice Age 4

2012 is easily the best year EVER. I thought you can never top 2007, but next year is going to go down in history as a true cornerstone. The cream of the crop in terms of the biggest franchises of the past decade mixed with some new wannabes.

Very interesting.

IMO TDKR Vs. The Hobbit will be far more interesting to watch then say TDKR Vs. The Avengers. Considering that Hobbit is coming off of ROTK and seeing how fucking HUGE the LOTR movies were especially WW it's going to be EPIC! watching those two go at each other. WW numbers for both should be massive anyways, but it's all about seeing which will win in the end. My money is on Hobbit though.

Unless something goes awfully wrong, the Hobbit will be winning overseas. But Domestic is where i want it to cause the upset. LOTRs as big as they were did not manage $400m+

I hope these two installments of the Hobbit will do it.

That's pretty good, though as i said The Avengers is more showy whereas TDKR is more gritty. Two different tones. It'll be a blast next year

With the speed at which the international marketplace is growing (not just for 3D movies) this will not only certainly top $600 million, but will flirt with $700 million if the quality is similar to TDK. China, India, Brazil and Russia alone will provide for much bigger grosses this time around and I don't see it decreasing anywhere.

TDKR will be rated "12 years" in Germany, TDK was rated "16 years) - should be good for b.o.

the rating will be online tomorrow, than we know the German length...

But after the HULK debacle I'm pretty sure that there are no cuts...

With a 12-rating, I think it has an real shot at 4+ million admissions.

With a close to $800m OS run TDKR can get to $1.4b IMO. The only question is how close it will get to The Avengers. I don't see a big gap between the two in their WW total.

BFI IMAX in London has already made £1,001,300, in ticket sales.

http://www.heyuguys.co.uk/2012/07/18/th ... ng-record/

It's only one of two locations in London showing it in true IMAX so it's to be expected but still an amazing figure.
