 Storms. suck.
So. Yeah. My DC people can back me up on this.
We had this crayyyyzayyyy storm late Friday night about 10:30 PM that came out of nowhere. There were 80mph winds at one point, and lightning like I've never seen. Downed trees and power lines EVERYWHERE.
It knocked out my power immediately and I just got it back a few hours ago. So I had two agonizing nights in horribly humid and muggy temperatures without A/C. Good times. And I still don't have cable or internet so I am clinging to Wi-Fi at Starbucks right now.
It also postponed/canceled my plans to see Magic Mike with girlfriends for the time being. Butttt I did go see Ted (hilarious!) and People Like Us (pretty good) with a friend yesterday just to get out of the fricking house.
...ugh.

I never lost power myself. But, yes, a formidable storm.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/June_2012_ ... an_derechoThere's even a Wikipedia entry for this. We had a derecho, which is some magical storm that usually only comes once every 4 years. oy

I remember one coming through our area a while ago... You see this big wall cloud coming closer and closer stretching across the sky as the eye can see. something like this...

 Re: Storms. suck.
My friend in Maryland may not have power back until SATURDAY, according to Pepco estimates. SATURDAY. That is 8 days after the storm hit in the middle of an extreme heat wave.
My internet/cable/landline still doesn't work but at least I have air conditioning. Woof.

It's supposed to dip into highs in the 80s tomorrow! So exciting!
An end to the 11-day heat wave. FINALLY.

We FINALLY got some rain today, though not much. Also 10 straight days of 100-degree weather ceased.

Don't just complain about the weather - - read about what's causing it in this well written article in this week's Rolling Stone by Bill McKibben: Global Warming's Terrifying New Math: Three simple numbers that add up to global catastrophe - and that make clear who the real enemy is
