 June 15-17 Predictions
That's My Boy - $29 million Rock of Ages - $26 million
We could see four movies making $25+ million next weekend.

 Re: June 15-17 Predictions
It is up for creation as soon as a Friday numbers thread surfaces.
That said, we can of course debate the usefulness of a Friday numbers thread at this point.

 Re: June 15-17 Predictions
I seriously think Rock of Ages is being over-predicted. I don't think interest is that high. I'm currently seeing a 17-19 Million opening.

That's My Boy - $36 million Rock of Ages - $27 million
The box office has room for both these to be hits.

 Re: June 15-17 Predictions
Despite Jack and Jill's disappointing performance, I'm sensing a big breakout for TMB. We've seen 3 comedies disappoint so far this summer. In fact, since 21 Jump Street, 6/7 comedies have disappointed. The only exception was Think Like A Man.
Comedy can do really well this time of year. TMB is first out of the gate, so there will be an overperformance. I can see low $40's as a possibility...

The big selling point was Cruise is in a musical. But that isn't enough to make this a blockbuster. It could have a lengthy run, but a low opening...

O, I've heard from early test screenings that this is Sandler's outrageous and funniest comedy in a long time. One of my friends from my Alma Mater told me, it was his best film since Big Daddy.

 Re: June 15-17 Predictions
I must just be in a different deminsion or something, I don't get TMB at all. I literally have yet to see a trailer, spot, teaser of any kind. I haven't heard a single person mention it or express interest, I think awareness is actually really low. ROA however has been marketed all over the place, pretty much everyone has heard of it at least. TMB- 22m ROA- 26m

One for young males. One for older people.

I wouldn't necessarily call Rock of Ages as something for older people. The main storyline is cliche teen romance.

 Re: June 15-17 Predictions
From the trailer That's My Boy looks worse than Jack & Jill, or at least just as bad. Everyone I talk to thinks it looks terrible. I still see it opening above 30 Million though.

 Re: June 15-17 Predictions
I can't figure out That's My Boy. I thought there would be major excitement over Sandler, after many family-friendly and more romantic projects, going hard R, but I'm not sensing a great deal. I almost feel they miscalculated by going so incredibly nasty. Sandler's biggest hits have always had a sweet side. This is certainly true of The Waterboy, Big Daddy, and Anger Management. This, despite the father/son plot, seems vicious and filthy.
That's My Boy - 32 mil. Rock of Ages - 21

I dont see That's my Boy pushing Grown Ups numbers, though it will make more than 20m

I saw That's My Boy about a month ago and it was fucking atrocious. I worry for the sanity of anyone that finds it funny.

 Re: June 15-17 Predictions
I have no idea what to expect from TMB. I'm just going high because of the aggressive marketing and lack of comedies, but I honestly feel like it could go as low as $25M. The tv spots aren't that funny and do people really want to see Adam Sandler as a over the top, annoying douchebag ? I doubt it, but there is no way this is doing GU numbers.

 Re: June 15-17 Predictions
It would help if there were a secondary presence stronger than Andy Samberg, a virtual nonentity.
