So I tried to watch the trailer on the internet but it seems like the coloring on my monitor was screwed up and just showing it only in black and white for a minute and a half. Anyhow I cant wait for the movie in the theater and watch it on the colorful screen. It does remind me of the Dick Tracey movie and hopefully it would be as colorful

I'm raising my prediction.... Hostage proved Bruce Willis is still a slight draw, and I just realized Sky Captain opened to just under 16 million, I had some reason to think that it opened with 12 million.
Opening: $16.2
Total: $42.0

You guys know Elijah Wood's plays a cannibalistic serial killer, most of the scenes with him will be quite chilling and downright creepy. I should really read the graphics novel.

Found this Faq thread
Q: What is Sin City and where can I find the source material?
A: Sin City is based on a series of black & white crime/drama noir-style comics created by Frank Miller and published by Dark Horse Comics*. You can still find single issues and/or the collected trade paperbacks (TPBs) at your local comic shop or check larger bookstores for the collected trades. You can also find some of them online here:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... 11-1773558
and
http://search.ebay.com/sin-city-comics_ ... 1QQfromZR8
However, if you're not into tracking old stuff down, all of the books will be re-issued in February to promote the films release and will be available on-line, in comic book shops, and in larger book stores. Check them out here:
http://www.darkhorse.com/search/search. ... y&type=tpb
These will include (in the order they were published) Sin City (the original story published in the Dark Horse Presents anthology comic, and renamed The Hard Goodbye for the movie), A Dame To Kill For, The Big Fat Kill, That Yellow Bastard, Hell & Back, and "Booze, Broads, & Bullets" (a collection of short story reprints). Also, look for the "one-shot" comics "Silent Night", "The Babe Wore Red And Other Stories", "Family Values", "Lost, Lonely, & Lethal", "Just Another Saturday Night", and "Sex & Violence". As the chronology of the stories bounces back and forth, it is not necessary to read the books in any particular order. But if you're into chronology, you can't go wrong if you read the books in the order they were published. Also, if you don't mind a few spoilers, check out these sites:
http://surbrook.devermore.net/adaptions ... eline.html
and
http://img74.exs.cx/img74/6104/timeline5ia.gif.
*Note: While these are comic books, due to graphic violence, language, nudity, and other adult subject matter they are meant strictly for mature readers.
Q: Will I be able to read the source material without spoiling the plot of the movie?
A: Since the film is following the stories almost to the letter, no. The books will definitely ruin the film for you. The fans all know what happens, but what we're looking forward to is the actual execution of the visuals and the actors' performances, not necessarily the endings. If you read the books, you'll still look forward to the film, though. Probably even more.
Q: Crap! Well, if I don't want to spoil the movie, will I be able to understand it without reading the comics?
A: Absolutely. They follow very basic noir crime/drama story lines most of us should be familiar with. No Usual Suspects twists or anything tricky to throw you off. The only thing about reading the books compared to seeing the film, though, is that, with the books, you can immediately review a phrase or image that you may have missed the first time. I've read those stories maybe a dozen times and I'm still finding new stuff. Miller's writing is filled with meaningful undertones, so some may have to see the film again (mmmm... I'm thinking... five times) to catch all the subtle nuances, especially with all the dazzling visuals thrown in.
Q: What's the premise?
A: Based on Los Angeles, Sin City (short for Basin City) is the backdrop for all the stories, and, really, the main character. It's a city of vice, greed, corruption, and violence. Within it you'll find the worst of the worst and the lowest of the low. The stories usually revolve around loner guys who are dragged or duped into situations way out of their league, and are unwillingly thrust into the rolls of "heroes" (you'll understand the reason for the quotation marks after you've read the books ).
Q: What stories are being adapted for the film?
A: The movie will be in five consecutive segments. Dimension Films' press release has confirmed the three main story lines will be based on Sin City (the original story, now called The Hard Goodbye), That Yellow Bastard, and The Big Fat Kill. An intro, based on The Customer Is Always Right (a short story from the The Babe Wore Red and other stories one-shot), and an epilogue piece will start and finish the film. At this time, we don't know whether the epilogue is based on a pre-existing story, or one originally written for this project. There are rumblings of elements and characters from other stories showing up, but those have not been confirmed.
Q: Will the film be faithful to the source material?
A: To keep the look and feel of the comic as true as possible, actual pages from the books were used as storyboards and set design templates. The dialogue will mostly be word for word from the books. According to Clive Owen "...if there's bubbles on the panel, then we say the dialogue. It's that faithful." However, although nudity (both female and male) is prominently featured throughout the books, Miller and Rodriguez felt it would be too distracting to the overall film and took most of it out. This, along with some of the more descriptive narration, seems to be the only significant departure from the source material.
Q: So, what are the stories about?
A: You'll find a summary for the first featured story, The Hard Goodbye, on the main page. The second featured story, That Yellow Bastard, follows John Hartigan, one of the few honest cops in Basin City, on his mission to save a young girl from a deadly psychopath...twice. A story of recovery, revenge, and redemption. The final feature segment, The Big Fat Kill introduces us to Dwight McCarthy, a regular guy who stumbles onto the harsh reality of Basin City's corrupt police force and fights back with the help of Old Town's gang of deadly prostitutes.
Q: Who play the leads?
A: The leads for the stories are Mickey Rourke (Angelheart, 9 1/2 Weeks, Barfly) as "Marv" in the first segment, followed by Bruce Willis (Die Hard, Moonlighting, 12 Monkeys) as "Hartigan" in the second, with the third segment featuring Clive Owen (The Bourne Identity, Gosford Park, King Arthur) as "Dwight".
Q: Who are the female characters?
A: As in all noir-based work, women always play pivotal roles in the Sin City stories. Usually, they're the femme fatales motivating the "heroes" one way or the other. Two places the female characters are most prevalent are at Kadie's Club Pecos (a strip club with a country/western theme and Marv's favorite hangout) and Old Town. Kadie's features young stripper, Nancy (Jessica Alba from Dark Angel), "the sweetheart of Sin City" and bar maid, Shellie (Brittany Murphy from 8 Mile), Dwight's girlfriend and part-time speed bag. In Old Town, you will find its ruling gang of deadly prostitute led by Wendy (Jaime King from Bulletproof Monk), Gail (Rosario Dawson from Men In Black 2), and their enforcer, the petite, deadly ninja, Miho (Devon Aoki from 2 Fast, 2 Furious).
Q: What part does Alexis Bledel play and is it important?
A: Alexis plays Becky, and Old Town prostitute in The Big Fat Kill. While her role isn't large, it's still very integral to the entire plot of the story.
Q: Who are the villains? (minor spoilers)
A: Obviously, with Basin City being the home of "the lowest of the low", the villains are no exception. We will meet Kevin (Elija Wood, from The Lord Of The Rings trilogy), an angel-faced mute with an affinity for wolves and a taste for human flesh. And Kevin's protector and "partner in crime", Cardinal Roark (Rutger Hauer from Bladerunner). Then there's "Iron" Jack Rafferty (Benicio Del Toro from Traffic), hero cop and all-around scumbag. Also, there is Jr. Roark, later known as the Bastard (Nick Stahl from Terminator 3), degenerate spawn of the powerful Roark empire that founded Basin City. Jr. has a penchant for sexually molesting little girls and then mutilating them (um, remember what I said about that "adult subject matter"?), and is protected by his powerful Senator father (Powers Booth from Philip Marlowe, Private Eye). We'll also get to meet various thugs, corrupt city officials, and, ooooh, those femme fatales! All part of the landscape in the town without pity. More on the characters and their backgrounds here:
http://surbrook.devermore.net/adaptions ... ncity.html
Q: Who's that yellow guy and are there any other actors wearing prosthetic makeup? (minor spoilers)
A: The yellow guy (or "The Yellow Bastard") is Junior Roark, played by Nick Stahl. He's transformed half-way through the story into the Bastard after a run-in with Hartigan left him crippled and he was forced to undergo experimental genetic treatments. These left him with internal organ damage and the inability for his body to properly process waste material (he smells!). An interesting note on his yellow makeup: due to the requirements of the digital color process, his "Bastard" suit was actually blue. The other actors who will be wearing prosthetics are Mickey Rourke as "Marv", and Benicio Del Toro as "Iron Jack Rafferty". Del Toro was actually insistent on wearing the makeup to make himself look more like the character from the books.
Q: Is there more than one director and what's Quentin Tarantino's involvement?
A: Rodriguez is currently sharing directorial duties with Frank Miller and Quentin Tarantino. Rodriguez was contacted by the Director's Guild of America on the first week of shooting, who told him that having more than one director on this project is a big DGA no-no. Rather than take Miller or his name off the project, Rodriguez told the DGA to get bent and quit the guild. As you can see from the main page's credits, along with directing, Miller and Rodriguez also share producer and screenwriter duties. Now, while Rodriguez and Miller will be co-directing the entire film, Tarantino will only be directing one scene from The Big Fat Kill. Tarantino charged Rodriguez $1 to direct this scene to even up the $1 Rodriguez charged him for scoring parts of the Kill Bill films. Also, Rodriguez wanted Tarantino to get familiar with using the high-definition digital video used for this film.
Q: What will this film be rated and how long will it be?
A: Sin City is rated R for "graphic violence, nudity, drug use, and strong language". Now, while the drug use (Marv's pill popping), nudity (at this point, Carla Gugino is the only confirmed nude actor**), and language will all be minimal, this will be an extremely violently graphic film. As far as the run time, at this point it looks to be about 130 minutes long.
**Note: Yes, in the books, the Jessica Alba character, Nancy, dances nude. However, after Miller initially contacted Alba regarding the role, she told them she has a "no nudity" clause in her contract. Both Miller and Rodriguez agreed to her terms and made changes to her character for the film.
Q: When will the film open?
A: http://imdb.com/title/tt0401792/releaseinfo
Q: Where was it filmed?
A: This was shot entirely at Austin Studios (on the Robert Mueller airport property) in Austin, Texas.
Q: How did Rodriguez get Miller to agree to release the rights and what was this test film about?
A: Miller, bitter at Hollywood after his ordeals as screenwriter for RoboCop 2 & 3, had stated that he would never release the rights to Sin City for a movie. However, after he and Rodriguez collaborated experimentally on a ten-minute Sin City short film (which is now the intro for the feature film), Frank was so impressed that he was soon heavily involved with this project. Rodriguez said Miller couldn't wipe the smile off his face for weeks after watching it. The test film was based on the short story The Customer Is Always Right which appears in the one-shot, The Babe Wore Red And Other Stories. It featured Marley Shelton and Josh Hartnett. Hartnett worked with Rodriguez on The Faculty and stated he wanted to work with Rob again. He was the first actor Rodriguez contacted for the role of "The Salesman".
Q: Did Robert Rodriguez have anything to do with the short film, Rats?
A: No. The initial test film was Rodriguez's only short film based on a Sin City story. Rats (based on a story from Lost, Lonely, & Lethal) was made independent of this production by different filmmakers not affiliated with Rodriguez or Miller. As it's a non-commercial effort, they did not need Miller's permission to make it. You can view the film here:
http://www.ifilm.com/ifilmdetail/2655362?htv=12&htv=12
Q: What techniques are they using to film this and what music will be used?
A: As per Rodriguez's preference, Sin City will be shot in high definition digital video, not film, and then digitally converted to black & white with spot color added here and there for visual effect (see Hell & Back, The Babe Wore Red, and the comic version of That Yellow Bastard, among other Sin City stories for examples), similar to the technique used in Pleasentville. The visuals will also rely heavily on extensive "greenscreen" technology, mostly being used as backgrounds. Look for Rodriguez himself to score most, if not all, of the music for this film.
Q: I heard Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio were supposed to be in this. Where are they?
A: *SIGH*! Finally, to those who may have questions regarding "missing" cast members. Johnny Depp was in talks to play "Wallace" from the story Hell And Back, but the film became too long and the idea was held over for a possible sequel. DiCaprio was originally in talks to play the dual role of "Jr. Roark" and "The Bastard" but talks fell through and Nick Stahl was signed instead. Kate Bosworth was replaced bt Rosario Dawson as "Gail". Also, Maria Bello has stated that she has no knowledge of this film and will not appear as "Ava". This is probably another rumor that was never fixed on the main cast board. As for the rest, the original cast posted on this site was merely speculative, pending talks with the actors involved. This was obviously Rodriguez's (and many fan's) wish list***, but like most wishes, this one hit the reality wall (read: budget, scheduling, egos). Stay tuned, though. Not all the cast has been released and there could still be some uncredited surprise cameos.
***Note: Apparently what Rodriguez did was to put a whole bunch of actors' names in the credits on the test film. The actors he showed the film to would first see a quality product, then see who was "attached" to the project (of course, not knowing that these actors weren't really attached, either), then see their own name! Who could say no to that, eh? It's speculative that DiCaprio, Depp, Michael Douglas, and others only had their names appear in these fake credits. Yup, pretty underhanded, but you can't argue with the results.
Q: What’s the music that’s playing on the trailer?
A: As I mentioned above, the song is called “Cells†by the British band, The Servant. You could download it and other works of theirs on The Servant’s official website, however (probably due to the interest caused by the trailer) the site is down due to “exhausted allocated bandwidthâ€Â. Currently, no instrumental-only version of “Cells†exists commercially.
And finally (because you demanded it!),
Q: This film looks an awful lot like the video game Max Payne. Is there any connection?
A: No. Sin City was created almost ten years before anyone had had heard of Max Payne. Any and all resemblance is purely coincidental, although I don't doubt that, visually and story-wise, the game could possibly be inspired by the original Sin City comics.
If you want to read more on Miller, his work, and this film check out these sites.

(minor spoilers) A: Obviously, with Basin City being the home of "the lowest of the low", the villains are no exception. More on the characters and their backgrounds here: http://surbrook.devermore.net/adaptions ... ncity.html Q: Who's that yellow guy and are there any other actors wearing prosthetic makeup? (minor spoilers) A: The yellow guy (or "The Yellow Bastard") is Junior Roark, played by Nick Stahl. A: http://imdb.com/title/tt0401792/releaseinfo Q: Where was it filmed? You can view the film here: http://www.ifilm.com/ifilmdetail/2655362?htv=12&htv=12 Q: What techniques are they using to film this and what music will be used? And finally (because you demanded it!), Q: This film looks an awful lot like the video game Max Payne. Is there any connection? A: No. Sin City was created almost ten years before anyone had had heard of Max Payne. Any and all resemblance is purely coincidental, although I don't doubt that, visually and story-wise, the game could possibly be inspired by the original Sin City comics. thanks for posting this Killuminati510, this has a lot of great info in it
Also Most sites dont have a rating for it yet, kind of disapointing seeing as how the film is being released very soon :???:, but any site that does have a rating posted says R but they dont have an explanation. When there is a site that has all the info needed I will post it
