 INTOUCHABLES (INTL)
Okay, we all know that INTOUCHABLES is a huuuuuuuuuge blockbuster in the French speaking territories with $132m in France, $6m in Switzerland and $5.5m in Belgium (and still counting...)
Well, yesterday it opened in its first non-French territory here in Germany. And judging by 1st day sales the dramedy will become a blockbuster here too - meaning 3m admissions and box office of $30m...
What a pleasant surprise to start the new year!

 Re: INTOUCHABLES (INTL)
I'm going to see it tomorrow and I'm actually pretty excited about it. It's performance in France is just mind-blowing.

 Re: INTOUCHABLES (INTL)
It's up to $146m in France after a ninth consecutive week on top. $170m or more is probably happening now.

 Re: INTOUCHABLES (INTL)
Apparently because France has only admissions numbers Bom and other sites use different ticket prices to calcullate actual grosses. So France grosses on Bom are usually 10-15% higher than from other sources.

How did you like it? I thought it fantastic and I probably haven't laughed more in a theater since forever. It's a great film and one of my favorites of 2011.

 Re: INTOUCHABLES (INTL)
This is fucking incredible. It's going to pummel the Ch'tis here. I'm seeing it next week once the OV hits the theatres around here.
Pretty sure it'll hit at least 2.5 million admissions here now and will end up in the yearly Top 10.

 Re: INTOUCHABLES (INTL)
Could this be a hit in the U.S.? Or is it one of those foreign films which will largely be lost in translation stateside, a la the OSS 117 movies?

 Re: INTOUCHABLES (INTL)
The US is a strange market for overseas films.
In the early 2000's foreign films were very popular with Crouching Tiger getting over 22 million admissions and Hero opening to over 20 million in August.
Foriegn films usually become popular afterwards, a while after release and sometimes for weird reasons.
Downfall film from Germany become quite well known in North America due to the Hitler Rant Meme. I watched it before but all my friends watched it as they were interested by the scene.

 Re: INTOUCHABLES (INTL)
2.631 million admissions in Germany. The weekedn pretty much was even with the last.
At this point, 6,000,000 seems like the absolute MINIMUM in Germany with a more likély projection being 6,800,000-7,000,000 admissions.
