19/66 From all the stuff I have seen it would be a shame if it no makes more people to see this.

BTW: How much did the movie cost to make. Even alone the cast`s paychecks must be the Horror for every producer.

because there is no central character it did not cost much to pay any of the actors or actresses

Esimates at the moment are 40m I expect the acuals to be in the 60m-70m range

from what Ive heard Rodreguez films dont cost much so that 40m could be true.

I'm sorry, but that new trailer makes the film look really stupid. It will not appeal. No one wants to watch a black and white movie.

Schlomo...

I think there's a slight difference between an Oscar winning movie (which is also one of the best technical movies ever), and a black and white comic book movie with a completely different tone.

There is a difference, but I think the point is that if the movie is good people will see it. I doubt the black and white will play a major factor in it's box office one way or the other. The unique visual style could help it to differentiate itself from typical comic book fare, but ultimately it will likely stand on it's own merits.

If a person refuses to see a movie based soley on the fact it's black and white, I imagine they'd have to look a little like this guy... :nutso:

Yeah, that's true, but just because it looks good to "internet" people, doesn't mean it's a box office hit. Sky Captain proved that. It was so hyped by internet movie freaks, yet it only opened to $15 million with excellent reviews and a PG rating. The movie's different style is what turned people off, and while I can't wait to see Sin City, I believe the same thing will happen here. Sin City not only has a different style, but it's rated R. In April 2004, they released an R-rated comic book movie, The Punisher, which opened to $13 million. The Punisher, similar to Sin City, is a low budget and relatively hardcore action movie (compared to the other comic book movies).

I just don't see how Sin City can open to over $20 million...

Sin City is acualy showing anticipation from the non internet crowd though, that is something that sky captain never showed, and it was not nearly as anticipated as Sin City. As for the other factors I think your right but I also think this film will be an exception just like the matrix was back in 99

Sky Captain opened to very lukewarm reviews (it's a 64% at metacritic) and lukewarm word of mouth. It had plot issues, and it's simply not true to say it underperformed because of it's style. Personally, I think it's style was the ONLY thing it had going for it.

As for the Punisher it was received horribly by critics and movie goers alike. So, it's really hard to compare to Sin City (unless it also scores similar word of mouth & poor reviews). I still stand by the fact it will live or die on it's own merits, and not on it's visual style.

I don't know Zing, I actually think that Sky Captain's PG rating HURT it, because the ads looked dark and didn't appeal to little kids, but teenagers wouldn't want to see it because it's got the uncool PG rating. And that only had an adverteising budget of 20-25 million, whereas Sin City's is going to be 15 million higher. And though I wanted to see it, at my school no one wanted to, they all said it looked way too weird for them. Whereas Friday everyone was talking about how cool the ad for Sin City on The OC was, some people said it looked like one of the coolest movies they'd ever seen, and they all said it looked just as good or better then Kill Bill (which by and large people liked a lot). And unlike The Punisher or Sky Captain, this movie has a huge cast that is ALREADY making the rounds on talk shows (Jaime King and Bruce Willis have both already been on Conan, some might be on others, but Conan is the only one I watch). And I think that it was a stroke of genius for Dimensions to have all the TV ads be one minute ones, it doesn't cost that much on most tv shows and make them easier to spot and will give people more to talk about. And the cast being huge will also help with plenty of magazines featuring them. Entertainment Weekly had it on there cover, and it was the main story for there article about all the movies opening in 2005. The title was "The Next Pulp Fiction?". And Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodreguez will also draw in people. I think that the curiosity factor will be pretty high.

People seriously need to stop comparing this to Sky Captain, Sky Captains wom was very weak for the most part, not to mention the movie had two BO poisons in it ( Jolie & Paltrow ) I also dont think it was very well recieved on the internet, alot of people thought it looked bad. Theres nothing to compare about the two except they're both creative movies. I can see Sin City getting a nice size opening seeing as it does have some hype to it and does have a decent marketing campaign starting for it, so anywhere from 15-25mil I see it opening, hopefully after that it has some good legs and manages a nice final gross.

Love the actual song, the instrumental is alright, it has these annoying noises going on here and there though.

Can you post the acual song :?: if so that would be great

This song sounds like the acual song and the music from the trailer put it one, its not bad but its not all that great eather.

Hmmm... I actually agree with Killuminati for one time. So, either for the first time in my life I am wrong about something (because he's always wrong!), or for the first time he is right (because I'm always right).

Either way it's truly scary. :yikes:

Wow. The orchestral version is awesome, but the song itself is completely awful. Glad Rodreguez found it out and was able to see through the terrible lyrics and singing.

I think there was something wrong with the movie projector that was showing the trailer since the color was missing from the shots so I cant really see the full version that everyone is talking about. So I tried to watch the trailer on the internet but it seems like the coloring on my monitor was screwed up and just showing it only in black and white for a minute and a half. Anyhow I cant wait for the movie in the theater and watch it on the colorful screen. It does remind me of the Dick Tracey movie and hopefully it would be as colorful

A good portion of the movie is black and white, certain things (when a flashlight is shined on a face, someone's hair) are occasionally in color, but mostly it's b&w.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
And here I thought my computer was glitchy and I yelled at the projectionist for the movie theater for showing trailers without colors. Must apologize. Oh well I'll put on my 3-D glasses when I go see the movie

Haha, it's cool, happens to the best of us, though I'm kind of surprised you didn't realize it. All the pictures they've had (and there have been a lot) were in black and white.
