47. Leon (The Professional) (1994)
46. The Shining (1980)

44. The Untouchables (1987)
43. Signs (2002)
42. Ronin (1998)
41. Ed Wood (1994)

I can't believe I still haven't seen ED WOOD
--Great to see THE LIMEY getting some love. I know some people who bash it because they say it's too "stylish" or whatever, but Stamp was incredible and his WILSON is one of the baddest, coolest characters ever on screen. I love how neat the flashbacks fit in and I just loved how determined he was to find out what happened. The scene with the speech with BILL DUKE just kills me.
--Fame, just got the soundtrack from someone.
--The Untouchables is my favorite DePalma film.
--Signs I loved it. I know about the water, and all the complaints, but it made me cry and made me scared for that family and that alone made me love it, flaws and all.

I always half way expected to have Bigfoot hanging around behind the house when I got home!

Anyway, sorry to distract from Loyal's great list. I'm also sorry for the cliffhanger, but I ran out of time. True story and I hope everyone enjoyed it.

Todd, that's some scary stuff, thanks for sharing. I had a sighting from I-55 once. Nothing as exciting but many cars in front of me and behind saw the same thing.

To be honest, I sort of wish that whatever was chasing your brother and his friends had caught up to them. Not so he could eat them but at least we'd have some concrete proof finally.

Eventually, either a trucker will hit and kill one or some bigfoot with an attitude will hurt someone and it'll be indisputable what happened.

That's a great pick. I had completely forgotten how much I love that movie.

Ok, on the previous ones I really am truly surprised you have Shine, Finding Nemo, and Office Space Up there. What I get from your list is that (oddly enough) almost all your picks are on the forfront of something. I don't know if that makes sense, but each one of the films, if you mention it in a random crowd, someone will say "Oh, so-and-so movie, I loved it, did you like the so-and-so aspect, thats my fave part of it." 90% that fave aspect will be the same for everyone, because its something the movie is really known for. Magnolia is really well known for weaving the multiple storylines, so even if some of the individual stories were bad, or acting, or didn't relate to the characters (I haven't seen it) you'll still give it points because it had top-of-the-top structure. Bicycle Thief is not my favorite de Sica, I'm still going to love it, and most likely for the same reason most everyone does, what it became the leader of, Italian Neo-realism. Even your Noirs, are the best of the best, with the perfect double identity plot. As for comedies, I always found Office Space to not really be pushing anything. In fact, I don't really understand why people like it.

On the other hand, I do undertand why Ed Wood is on your list. $10 you start a thread asking people to name specific reasons why they liked Ed Wood and most of them will osund similar. Its because thats what the movie was at the forfront of. I consider that a good thing by the way, something that distinguishes it from the middle of the pack in that genre. Shine for me is the biggest confusion. I felt the entire movie was fairly mediocre both content wise, and stylistically. Geoffey had his American breakthrough in that performance, and I consider it the equivalency of Ray this year. The acting was good enough that people didn't realize how genuinely mediocre the movie was. When I saw The pIanist, alot of scenes felt the same. I was bored then too. I forgot Shine even existed as a movie because it doesn't fall into my "wow, that was terrible" range, but nor does it fall into my "That was great" range either. I feel like most of the movies on your list are one of those for me, either love 'em or hate 'em. These are the first ones on the list that feel too mundane for your tastes basically. :P Nemo I'm just surprised because while it was excellent, I expected older animation, not the stuff in the past two or three years, to be on your list. DOn't know why, that one threw me for a loop too.

Now that I'm done over-analyzing your list.....

Todd, that story really does sound like you could make a movie out of it. If the eyes had been lower down, I'd assume it was a wolf or coyote or somethind, since I do know that they can prey in such a fashion (stopping right when the prey stops, etc). But with eyes high up it would be a deer or elk, and they would definately flee from your brother and his friends, not chase them. Freaky. I have no doubt stuff like this exists, I just don't think it lives forever. If your brother saw it a long time ago, its probably dead by now. They're still just weird mutated animals, not eternal spirits, that where I draw the line. People still htink Lock Ness Monster exists and to that I say, I bet you there really was some freaky animal in there at one point, but its not two thousand years old and still kicking....let it go. Its a good thing I gave up going into the woods at night a long time ago!

Jen, you really should make the effort to see Sideways, trust me it is worth the effort. I honestly didn't think I would like it, but it was one of my favorites of last year.

Good work Dolce.

Office Space is definitely a guilty pleasure of mine (Half Baked is another). As for Shine, I understand where you are coming from but I love it. Nemo almost failed to make the cut but I do have great affection for it, mainly because of Degeneres and Brooks. I could watch those two fish all day.

Nemo isn't the only animated film on my list.

High Fidelity is the perfect film about relationships in your 20's and Mother is the perfect film about somewhat older relationships.

I highly recommend those 2.

DeGeneres stole the show for me too. I have seen that film so many times I can quote a good deal of it.

I can say that had DeGeneres and Brooks not voiced those characters, I would have zero interest in that film. The concept and visuals alone wouldn't have been enough. I can't think of another film where the casting of 2 leads was so important.

I don't doubt that it is a wonderful film, but my laziness is greater than my desire. I have some free time this weekend and I will see if I can make it downtown. No way would that kind of film play locally here.

#40-31 My favorite part of your wonderful list so far.

--I need to see The Man with No Name Trilogy again because I saw them when I was about 10 or 11 and only remember tiny action parts.
--GALAXY QUEST is another one of my loves. Why that film had so little box office is beyond me. Tony Shaloub almost steals the film, but Sam Rockwell beat him to it.
--AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON-- =D> I love it. My favorite werewolf film of all time. I was always a bit upset at the ending, but I got over that.

If there's anyone who hasn't seen Flirting or Out of Sight or Natural Born Killers or even Trainspotting, do yourself a favor and rent them.

The rest of my 21-30 are pretty popular so I'm sure you already know how great they are.
