Also, the best part of these: Following Fake Armond White as the voting goes on.

Streep takes the early lead, just as she did when winning for Julie & Julia here, and this time, I don't see a The Blind Side/Sandra Bullock freak train to derail her eventual win.

The Best Actor is shaping up to be a two-men battle between Pitt and Clooney.

Moneyball wins Screenplay, The Tree of Life wins Cinematography.

I don't think ANYONE predicted the former. Though I'm pretty sure everyone predicted the latter.

They Moneyball screenplay win isn't surprising to me at all. Lots of great dialogue. Lots of "big American themes." Sorkin and Zaillian are two of the best regarded screenwriters in the country. Seems a fairly natural win.

I find Pitt's win over Clooney and Fassbender more surprising. Though maybe the "--and The Tree of Life" pushed him to the top. For the Oscars, Fox Searchlight are pushing him in Supporting Actor for Tree of Life.

According to Lou Lumenick, both Hugo and Scorsese finished second in the ultimate voting. I wish one or both had won. Hugo needed the boost much more than The Artist.
