 Re: NBA 2010-2011 Season
The lockout (and the Decision before it) have really proven that neither the owners or players give a shit about the fans. They just wanna get paid. The players union waited too long to act, and now they don't have any leverage. I hope they get crushed.

 Re: NBA 2010-2011 Season
Why would the owners cave? They have all the leverage. What happened to playing in Europe? This is going to end up 49/51 in favor of the owners and the players can only blame themselves.

They're taking the offer back to the player reps this weekend. Stern mentioned 72 G season starting December 15th if it's accepted
I think it will be

 Re: NBA 2010-2011 Season
This is going to be a mess, especially if they players take it to the courts. The Courts take years are they both willing to lose 2-3 seasons of games? If they do they can expect fans won't come back and I predict half of the teams will be gone. The NBA will never be the same it will be below the NHL if they allow that to happen. I know right now I will refuse to give any of my money to the NBA and their greedy owners and players.

 Re: NBA 2010-2011 Season
After reading how inconsquential the details separating them are (owners want smaller MLE for over tax teams, no extend and trades as new parts of CBA) I have to think they get this back together. You just don't cancel the season over crap that small
All the owners who voted yes on the previous proposal need to get together and ask "Do these issues really matter that much to us?" and then send the new proposal to the players. If the players are bitches at that point and ask for more, then you bend them over in court and give them what they deserve

This is what happens when you have owners that don't know how to make money, and players who only have one year of college education.

 Re: NBA 2010-2011 Season
They are morons. All they had to do is look back at history and see what happened in baseball and hockey. Both sports are still recovering from those strikes. Baseball has never been the same since the 1994 strike. Before it was the most popular sport now it is 3rd (of course it might pass the NBA now). Also, not sure why they think the courts will favor them. The NFL players lost in the courts. And if this went to the Supreme court I think they (being the conservative bunch they are) would favor the owners.

Those are pretty big deals actually. Mid market teams need a level playing field, so we don't have another Miami fiasco. Not everybody can play in New York, LA, Chicago, and Florida. I also support franchise tags. Star players shouldn't be allowed to form their own teams.

 Re: NBA 2010-2011 Season
Talks are back on
Apparantely next week is the Christmas games deadline. Owners really want to play on Christmas for the revenue and so their tv contracts aren't screwed up
I think this gets done early next week at the last minute to... save Christmas

It's just perfect that Heat/Mavs will be on opening night
I'm significantly less interested in Celtics Knicks and Lakers Bulls. I would've gone Bulls Celtics and Lakers Thunder personally

i wouldn't mind if from now on nba permanently started on Christmas and championship decided in August... that would avoid nfl conflict as much as possible

 Re: NBA 2010-2011 Season
Looks like we're an hour or two away from Paul to the Lakers, Pau to the Rockets, and Martin, Scola and picks/young players to the Hornets - freeing up the Lakers to trade Bynum for Howard if they accept
Absolutely disgusting. Martin and Scola are useless for a Hornets team that needs to blow up and tank.
I only hope the Magic tell the Lakers to go fuck themselves. I like the idea of the Lakers needing both Paul and Bynum's knees to stay in tact to do anything over a compressed schedule

 Re: NBA 2010-2011 Season
Apparently there's a rumour that the NBA will veto the trade since it's not in the best interest of the league.

 Re: NBA 2010-2011 Season
The talk is that much of this came from Stern himself because he's fed up with stars forcing themselves to teams
This is incredibly shady. Like... incredibly.

 Re: NBA 2010-2011 Season
The league currently owns the Hornets, right? That makes the threat more plausible.
