Re: Tintin Domestic
It's not about games but trailers for games in my example (or, well, game intros i suppose). And they don't say "make a life action movie" they want that same CGI animation but for 2 hours instead of 2 minutes (a Blizzard movie, anyone?).
Angelina Jolie definitely didn't look like Joan Rivers in Beowulf. It's a visual design question and has nothing to do with mocap.

Re: Tintin Domestic
I could see it disappointing with less than 100m. Anyway wom as great as some people want is never that predictable. Hopefully it has a good holiday run, but I think 200m+ is a bit unrealistic.

Re: Tintin Domestic Predictions
Hey, the last post suggests my belief in the movie making close to $150m, if I have to put a number I would go with my $185m.

If we're playing Price Is Right rules (closest without going over), I'm actually feeling pretty confident about my chances of winning this one!

Re: Tintin Domestic Predictions
For the record, I've read most of the Tintin books and, unlike Bradley, think and hope the movie is going to be very, very good.
It's also not going to make a dime in the United States. Adults aren't going to want to see it because everyone hates mo-cap/its a damn cartoon, and children aren't going to want to see it because it has no brand cache and the property, while delightful, is old-fashioned and square as hell.

No it's not, don't joke. Remove that pick now, it's so distracting. 8pm tomorrow night, Mamasita, my shout. LOL. Kidding

The reviews are starting to come in... Quote: This is the ugliest film ever made. 1 out of 5. - FT.comQuote: Hergé achieved more expression with his use of ink-spot eyes and humble line drawings than a bank of computers and an army of animators were able to achieve. 2 out of 5. - The Guardian

Re: Tintin Domestic Predictions
Holidays will certainly help although an opening one week would have afforded more breathing room.
$175m total - $48m OW

$175m total - $48m OW Woh... if it opens that high, it would make nearly $300 million. I see it opening in the low $20's. One of the toughest ones of the winter to predict. I'll use my prediction from the winter game: $120 million.

Re: Tintin Domestic Predictions
I cannot stress enough, again, how crazy most of you are, and I have no idea what you are all thinking. Mo Cap of familiar properties can't really even sell anymore, let alone something like this (which, again, looks too kiddie for the teens and the adults, yet still too unfamiliar and quaint for the kiddies)
