We Have a Winner! Loyal, this list offficially rules.

The Gun? The Assassination? and Antonioni's *Blow-Up*

Why do you build me up Buttercup, baby
Just to let me down and mess me around. :nono:

You thought the assissintion happened?

I was referring to your rave review of my list. You're bound to be disappointed sooner or later. A random Windtalkers or Bad Boys II or Phantoms will appear, it's inevitable.

As for Blow-Up, seeing is believing...or is it? :-k

Bad Boys II? AWESOME!!

Dancing About Architecture (Playing by Heart) is a great little gem if you've never heard of it.

Not only does it feature Gillian Anderson and Angelina Jolie as sisters but it also has Sean Connery, Jon Stewart, and Ryan Phillippe (for the ladies and bi-curious men).

Oh my gosh! More Boggy Creek fans! Bigfoot was one of the most terrifying parts of my childhood growing up in rural Oklahoma. I rewatched Boggy Creek about ten years ago. I laughed through most of it until the end and at one point actually jumped off the couch in terror. I'll have to tell you sometime about my brother being chased through the Oklahoma woods late at night by....something, he was never sure what it was, but it really stunk!

Yeah, that's what I was saying, the effects seem a bit hokey and dated, but otherwise the premesis, structure, and story are perfect. If this got remade well, I'd be first in line (with someone to claw at in fear of course, accompanying me). Loyal is prepping us for what I'm sure is going to have a top ten riddled with horror. But have no fear, I am going to watch a horror film this weekend in preperation for the rest of the list plus jen's list.

Atoddr, I want to hear that story.

So where should I post my story? Would it be too distracting in this thread or should I start one in real life? By the way, you can call me Todd.

Well, here part 1 ( I don't have time for the whole thing):

Back in the late 1970's my older brother was going to college in a small southern Oklahoma town named Tishomingo (he's 10 years older than me, btw). One night he and his roommate and two female friends decided to take a late-night 'stroll through a game refuge. They walked down a forest path that went about a mile into the woods before looping around and doubling back.

Now, let me just say, my brother is the most skeptical person I know. He always questions everything and is very logical and not easily scared. As they were walking they began to smell a strong, foul smell and began to joke about who might be responsible. However, their concern mounted when they began to hear something just off the trail walking through the brush at the same pace they were. When they walked, it walked. When they stopped, it stopped. Whatever it was, it was very large because of the noise it was making.

Everyone began to freak out, but my brother kept insisting there was a logical explanation. That is until they came to the bend in the trail and saw.....

gotta go, folks....I'll post the rest later. This is absolutely a true story too!

Gump is one of my favorite films of all time. The competition was tough though. It's brutal.

But like my favorite college professor and uncomfortable man-crush once said, "sometimes you have to drown the puppies."

Loyal when I was doing my list at first I was like I probably can't even think of 50 good movies so how am I suppose to do 100? soon I realized that it was hard to think of just 100 movies!

I cheated and had to start with 117. 100 is just impossible in my view. I'm not even going to mention what my criteria is, I'm sure by around 10-20, people will start to figure it out.

I've seen too many films that have impacted (no pun intended) my life. It's not even about good films vs great films to me, it's about lasting impressions.

Yeah, one film that made it into my top 30 (green mile) I only saw once at the theaters in April of 2000. The movie though I still remember to this day.
Raiders of the Lost Ark topped my list as it was a movie that stood out from my childhood and even now.

I like that you're not stuck to just one genre. You have many different movies. Batman, Office Space, and Schindler's List are great choices. Forrest Gump and Finding Nemo was good, too. I haven't seen the rest.

Guybrush was sleeping, that's why he didn't post. But fortunately he is back right now. Here is #2.

002 La Notte (1961) Michelangelo Antonioni

So much list love.

I can't recommend Magnolia enough. It's long, it's a beast alright, but the characters, how they interact and relate... and the performances (Tom Cruise, who knew?) are all perfect.

Shine is a sleeping giant. If you have any interest in bio films and/or films about mental illness, Shine should be at the top of your viewing list. Geoffrey Rush and Noah Taylor give David Helfgott heart, he isn't a cartoon (like say Rain Man, though great, is).

Moulin Rouge is an orgy of sight and sound.

Odd list, I wouldn't expect some of these from you. Mostly because I had forgotten about 1/2 or them. Shine? That seems like eons ago. So cinemania really is a movie? I thought you just came up with that for the forums. What's the movie about?

Oooh, which ones are surprising?

I made up the name but it also happens to be the name of a documentary about clinically obsessed movie fans (clinically!!)

117. The Big Heat (1953)
116. High Hopes (1988)
115. Top Secret (1984)
114. Time Bandits (1981)
113. King of New York (1990)
112. What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993)
111. Good Will Hunting (1997)
110. Heist (2001)

104. Die Hard (1988)

98. Kiss of Death (1947)
97. Princess Bride (1987)
96. Ladri di biciclette (Bicycle Thief) (1948)
95. Midnight Cowboy (1969)
94. True Lies (1994)
93. Goodfellas (1990)
92. Robocop (1987)
91. Labyrinth (1986)/Dark Crystal (1982) -they are forever linked in my childhood so I can't separate them.

I love the bolded ones. I like the red ones. The ones in blue are films I have to see.

--I haven't seen Time Bandits since I was a kid and even though I remember enjoying it I know for a fact that all the jokes must have gone over my head. A definite one to rent again

--I have to be the only one in the world who doesn't like Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal.
