I'm just wondering, because I thought it was like 30, but I've seen threads with more then 30 that arn't "popular".

What bABA said. I've seen threads that are 4+ pages long and only two posts are important and useful in the whole thread.

There are different measures. Some get a lot of hits, but not a lot of posts. That's not so popular. Other threads with many posts only require a short retort or answer, and those are easier to get a large number of.

The really popular threads, and my personal favorites, are the ones that have great discussions going on between many members. Great discussions don't = flame wars. Flame wars can generate several pages, but they are popular for all the wrong reasons.

Exactly. Threads in Box Office Games & Quizzes are not popular (except maybe a few box office games). Those require one word answers. Threads where people post just predictions and do just tracking are not that popular, either. Threads where real discussion is happening, or healthy arguements, are popular.

Um actually Impact the answer is 50. To reach the popular threshold a topic needs 50 or more posts.

I think everyone else mis-understood your question.
