Not so great for Warrior. Sunday will probably hurt it a good amount too.

It was never expected to have a big opening though. I would honestly say that Contagion's numbers are more dissapointing considering it had alot of breakout potential and it looked like all the online signs were pointing to something much bigger.

Contagion's opening is fine, the internet just did it's typical last-minute optimism jig. This will probably play very well internationally and if legs are decent stands a good chance of recouping it's budget domestically.

Warrior, on the other hand, will be pretty disappointing if those numbers are true. I didn't expect this to do that well as male moviegoers have been in decline, but this points to them being completely absent all-together. I thought an MMA movie would get some niche audience, and when the incredibly positive reviews started rolling in I thought it might perform even better. Poor Lionsgate just has a hard time getting non-horror/Tyler Perry movies out there, perhaps thanks to the way the system prefers the major, major studios.

Contagion opened just fine, I didn't expect a big rush factor as I would say it is a riskier project having an ensemble like this for Thriller genre. It could do well if WOM is good and then probably show some legs in the coming days.

Warrior too did not disappoint the TC was quite less and it should have had no rush factor, it needs to depend on WOM (which seems to be good). The legs though (if it aims for big legs) would depend on Awards attention.

The Help though had 100% increase could have done a little better, still great number though but it got affected by the adult attracting releases yesterday.

Good for Apes and Debt

:( Poor Warrior. Contagion did fine though. Should make about $22M with a deflated Sunday.

Then Bucky is set to be MTC's worst failure in the history of available data for it.

Warrior seems like it failed from being too disnified. It never felt like a sport that should have such an inspirational angle. It's guys brutally beating the shit out of each other.

Contagion did exactly as I expected. Good opening.

In other news, The Help is becoming one of those films you run out of things to say positive things about because they've all been said.

Unfortunately a rather dismal opening for Warrior. I hope it's boosted by positive word-of-mouth.

Hilariously microscopic opening for Bucky Larson. This movie looked insanely awful, legitimately the worst theatrical release of the last 10 years or something.

Cinemascores to me are so pointless--there have been countless times when films with not-so-hot scores still managed legs

as one example:

Informant--C- score----3x multiplier anyway

It seems to hurt more if a movie really breaks out opening weekend, IMO. It doesn't usually seem to matter too much if it's a movie aimed at adults, like The Informant.

I think Our Idiot Brother is showing decent legs and that had a C+ score.

This just in, having a marketing campaign made of "guy who's in a lot of Sandler movies" making dumb high on weed faces and yelling the movie's title at the camera, might not be a good idea

refined numbers now have Kevin Hart’s Laugh At My Pain at No. 10 despite Hartbeat Productions and Codeblack Entertainment releasing it into only 99 theaters. It opened to $758K Friday and an estimated weekend of $2M. Hart’s fans turned out for this profanity-filled film version of his recent stand-up tour. It offers less than an hour of Hart onstage but also includes such bonus footage as Hart touring his old neighborhood in Philadelphia and faking a bank heist. Directed by Leslie Small, this 1-hour, 28-minute pic and its entry into the Top 10 now establishes Hart as a bonafide star beyond just his YouTube videos which have drawn tens of millions of views. Look for the major studios to take notice.

WARRIOR did pretty much what I thought it would proving Hardy is no draw which will hurt TDKR..

The reason it didn't do well is because of the story. We just had The Fighter not long ago and that was a big hit. People I know thought this looked like the same thing.
