Post TIFF!
TIFF (The Toronto International Film Festival) starts next week!

I might be going this year! What should I see?

The big ticket item galas are already booked (A Dangerous Method, Ides of March).

Any recommendations?

For what it's worth, I don't think I've seen a more beautiful film this year than Melancholia (yes including Tree of Life.)

If I were in your shoes I would make a point to seek out Fernando Meirelle's 360, Almodavar's The Skin I Live in, Steve R. McQueen's Shame, The Year of the Tiger, Oslo, August 31, Wim Wender's Pina 3D, This is not a Film, and the Indonesian action flick The Raid.

I should add that the smartest movie I've seen all year has to be Footnote. It absolutely deserved to win Best Screenplay at Cannes - the amount of detail given to characters without traditional expository dialogue is brilliant. The clarity and depth in which complex philosophical, moral, and familial issues are explored is extremely impressive.

Had trouble getting to see those movies, but did see Union Square tonight with Mira Sorvino. Great movie, surprised by it actually!

Almost got to see Martha Marcy May Marlene tonight though! Just missed out! Thanks for the suggestions!
