Depends on marketing, if it does look appealing and is able to attract teen crowds it has a very good chance at $1B WW total, though for now I see the total matching that of Spider-Man 3 with inflation and 3D for $550m

This should be huge in Asia. Maybe set a few more records in Malaysia/Singapore/Philippines?

Asian markets should be massive. European markets will range from ok-great. American market will be solid.

Spiderman 3 was the previous champion in those Asian markets and held most until Transformers 2 and now Transformers 3 wiped it off the top spot.

While i think Amazing Spiderman can do huge numbers, i think it may fall just slightly short of TF3 which set the bar extremely high.

I want that EW issue!!! the trailer looks great

I thought the trailer was OK, not that impressed with the final flying shots. I'm quite worried about what they showed in the trailer, there's nothing that really gives it a new edge compared to the original....it's like rehashing the same story with a younger cast.....

This has a crappy title. I don't think it will do as much as the last one (adjusted), domestically and internationally.

Regardless, I won't be seeing it.

I didn't like the trailer/teaser either, while this is a reboot it doesn't even look like it is going to be a different storyline. The trailer looks like fanmade trailer with different cast. The climbing scenes are looking good and if they have shot the movie in 3D then those can be very good, still though it looks more like video-game then real.

The thing i'm most excited about in this movie is Andrew Garfield. This guy is going to be a big star.

I really hate the suit.

I like the suit, but it feels a little... overdesigned.

It's been specifically designed to look good in 3D.

I personally prefer Andrew Garfield's version. Not only is he much hotter i think the suit itself has more detailing and textures.



Also...i love the way his butt looks in this (whether that's Garfield or not is another question...probably a stunt doubke)

Butt of course. I just threw in the one with pants because it was quite funny. He must be feeling slightly embarassed that the suit cuts so fine to be wearing pants.

Release date in Germany was moved up to June 28th...

Hmm, why that day? Germany could be playing the semi-final of Euro 2012 on that exact day.

They should move up the Prometheus release date, DAMMIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sunday Update #2: Sony reports that The Amazing Spider-Man is off to a great start with $50.2 million internationally from 13 markets.

Market reports from Sony:

KOREA earned $13.4M on 1,213 screens, capturing a 71% market share. The KW15.8B total for Thursday to Sunday is the 3rd biggest of all time for a Hollywood film, behind only the 2nd and 3rd TRANSFORMERS films. This is 24% bigger than SPIDER-MAN 3 and 10% more than AVENGERS.

JAPAN opened with $11.4M on 1,092 screens, pulling in an estimated 84% of the country's Saturday-Sunday weekend box office.

INDIA grossed $6.0M on 1,236 screens, the biggest opening ever for a Hollywood film, 74% bigger than SPIDER-MAN 3, 73% more than AVENGERS, and more than double the lifetime box office of DARK KNIGHT.

The PHILIPPINES bowed with $3.2M on 529 screens, capturing the entire market in its opening weekend. This is the 4thbiggest Friday-Sunday opening ever (behind AVENGERS, TRANSFORMERS 3, and TWILIGHT: BREAKING DAWN.)

TAIWAN did $2.9M on 268 screens while taking in 73% of the market's weekend total. It is the 2nd biggest Fri-Sun weekend of the year (behind AVENGERS.)

VIETNAM grossed $425K on 41 screens, the 6th biggest Friday-Sunday opening of all time (and the 5th biggest Hollywood film.) It has surpassed the lifetime box office total of SPIDER-MAN 3.
