 Re: Early Friday Numbers
Fantastic for The Help. I knew it would be one of those "surprises" that blindsides box office analysts because they forget women like to go see good movies in droves, but it's outperforming even what I expected. If it did $7.5M on Friday and has the same weekend multiplier World Trade Center did in 2006 after a 5-day opening, it'll be a $24M 3-day and $34M over 5 days.
Final Destination 5 performed decently although it looks like the last movie's tepid reception hurt it. About what I expected for 30 Minutes or Less and Glee.
Nice hold for Apes.

FD5 supposedly had 76% of its gross in 3D.

 Re: Early Friday Numbers
Final Destination 5 got a B+ Cinemascore and 30 Minutes Or Less got a B Cinemascore. Pretty encouraging for FD5, but it still might struggle getting to $50M just because there is so much competition coming up. 30 Minutes could go either way.

 Re: Early Friday Numbers
Much better for 30MoL. Could hit $12M with that. Pretty good for everything else. Apes will land at about $25.5M, a very good hold for the summer.

 Re: Early Friday Numbers
You think it'll have that big of a Sat increase? Positive wom usually leads to big bumps, this I know, but it is still summer. Barely anyone is back at school yet. I'll root for it to hit $27M though.

Agreed with the above numbers. 50%-51% drop for Apes would be good, maybe not very good but still good.

 Re: Early Friday Numbers
It might have been an outlier but last weekend movies increased about that much and more on saturday (DH2 +43%). The rather big declines throughout the week and bigger increases on friday suggest that summer is coming to a close (a week earlier than i initially thought).

Yeah, women and urban audiences always get underestimated, with both of them and a popular book, this makes sense

 Re: Early Friday Numbers
I'm curious to see what the film does today. Final Destination has never been an uber-frontloaded franchise as horror films go; even the last film, terrible as it was, only dropped 6% on its first Saturday.
