That is a good number, it should cross $25m for 5-day with this number.

$5M opening day is good for this film, but I only care about Apes' and Zookeepers' number.

Nikki also states the movie received an A+ CinemaScore. And is suggesting between 5.5 and 6 yesterday.

What would be a reasonable Friday increase for this? I was thinking 55-60%.

Sounds good. Could even go higher due to the wom - if there's sufficient teen/fanbase turnout Wed the Thurs might drop a lot but then the general audience turns up for the weekend.

That means Apes must've had a monster drop.

18%-19% drop would mean that Apes would go behind The Help, I wouldn't call that a monster drop

THR says Help projected to do 20 for 5 day - it's doing a lot more than that.

I don't think they have updated their predictions after these updates started coming out.

They say Disney says 20 (predictably low), others 25+. It'll be 25+.

Films targeting African-American audience tend to have higher Friday increase, while the book's popularity could make Thursday drop a little higher. Still given the WOM, a smaller scale of The Blind Side type of run could be brewing.

Variety makes the mistake in their box office analysis of calling this a "modest" start because it's less than The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 did three years ago on a similar Wednesday opening.

The error with that thinking is that The Help skews MUCH older than that film did (it was 70%+ over 25, right?), so even with the book's fanbase, it will not be as clearly frontloaded as a movie aimed primarily at teenage girls.

Plus obviously the A+ CinemaScore is a distinguishing factor.

Some days you just can't get rid of The Help.

I've always thought Bryce Dallas Howard was super-hot, so I hope she crushes those mouthy bitches in the third act.

Big drop for Apes. Still running ahead of G.I. Joe but looks like a mid 50% drop at best now.

I doubt since her character is the villain in the movie (and a huge racist).

Big Wednesday drops. Some of the lower ones could be due to loss of the theaters, but mostly because of the high Tuesday increases.

It's notable that Sisterhood OTTP2 is not only also a book adaptation but a sequel - so in a sense it has two more frontloading factors than Help, without getting into genre-specific or racial factors.

Probably it will be more like World Trade Center (-25% on Thu) which just has one major frontloading factor - the adaptation one.
