Captain America even with younger appeal might have tough time reaching $300m BKB is predicting. Just look at the overload of superhero movies we have and this comes out the last of the lot. I see a VERY good number but nothing is suggesting $300m.

This year does seem to indicate that young people in particular are being extra finnicky.

And for the record, this club is evil and delicious and I'll totally join if it's not too late. Do the Green Lantern opening weekend clubs get to count too?

This one is the most interesting one. I see Thor barely going over $180m. We still have no idea how CA will perform.

Also while the following club was not included (it was created a lot after this thread and adding newer clubs might not be what members would approve of), the name of this club applies to it too.

Considering thor dropped hard this weekend I think Magnus club will succeed. I dont think dollar theater will be enough to hit 180M.

Magnus' club is not dead yet.

Thor hasn't broken 180M yet and the road to that number just got much much tougher with the theater drops it had this weekend and the ones that are coming next weekend.

But Captain America may do it. But its got several things working against it...a late summer start, a certain level of uncool patriotism in the left leaning media, and most of all the curse of you know who (AVP anyone? LOL).

This club may end up making it yet.

Wolverine was at $175,492,956 after 43 days and made almost 4.3 million the rest of its run. Thor sits at $175,266,000 after 43 days in release. 4.3 million would push Thor to almost 179.7. Considering that Thor is not a sequel and has better WOM than Wolverine, I think it will just get there.

Competition this year have been lot more fierce than 2009. There are too many action flicks releasing one after another. So I doubt it will stay in theaters long enough to hit 180M.

As of day 47 Thor passes Wolverine in total gross and daily gross

Thor: $176,410,181

Wolverine: $176,400,867

Thor daily gross: $155,702

Wolverine daily gross: $130,181

Thor has been having higher dailies since day 5. It just took 42 days to catch up on $20m Wolverine made more on its OW.

June 24 Theater counts for the weekend.

Thor drops another 50% of its theaters.

Anyone still think this is making it to 180M? Road is looking tougher and tougher for Thor.

I know you guys like to compare it to wolverine so here you go.

Wolverine going into its 8th weekend had a tally of
$176,653,775

But dropped to 536 theaters - which is 1/3 again as many theaters as what Thor is taking into its eight frame.

Wolverines final tally was 179.869M

Thor has another advantage of Paramount releasing its big movies coming weekends...though I don't see a push of any sorts by Paramount, I still think it will boost Thor's gross a little specially over weekends.

I don't think Paramount gives a fuck about pushing Thor since Disney now own everything.

More money for Transformers and boosting the Panda probably will be in store.

Thor will be fucked before CA even releases. Of course with the Tangled fudge job they will push Thor over 180 probly unless CA tanks.

Thor should pass $180 by next weekend I think. And it's going to make some change after that.
