Someone asked this afternoon who has the WW print count....i may just have the answer....albeit...all based on articles and estimates. I don't remember what POTC4 had though seem to recall something around the 9000 range domestically...so just picked the mid point as an estaimte.

ALL-TIME Worldwide Print Counts (estimates)

Harry Potter 7-2: DH - 11,000 + 19,500 = 30,500
Pirates 3 - 11,500 + 17,600 = 29,100
Harry Potter 7-1 DH - 9400 + 19,000 = 28,400
Pirates 4 - 9500 + 18,210 = 27,710
Spiderman 3 - 10,000 + 16,711 = 26,711
Harry Potter 6 - 9600 + 15,900 = 25,500
Harry Potter 5 - 9000 + 13,317 = 22,317

Lord of the Rings 3 - 7205 + 14,608 = 21,813
Avatar - 7,000 + 14,604 = 21,604
Star Wars 3 - 9400 + 10,489 = 19,889
2012 - 6500 + 12,685 = 19,185
Transformers 3 - 9300 + 9075 = 18,375
Da Vinci Code - xxxx + 12,182 = xxxx

You always forget the bigger it opens the harder it will fall. This movie is killing everything across the board give or take a few movies I don't think it will hold onto that many screens for next weekend and while I do agree that there might be a chance for $300m OS on the opening 4-days (I'd rather call it that), I still see it making $270m-$280m for the weekend. Which should be more than enough to break OW records everywhere and then have decent legs for $700m-$750m OS total which would be a little better than HBP's OS multiplier

The market has been waiting for this all year, its opening in more screens and prints than HP6. It'll have 3D and pretty much every single market outside of China....i somehow find it hard to fathom that it's ONLY going to make $280m (which is just $40m more than HP6). I don't think so.

$300m i'm telling ya, let's see who's right. You'll see the light come Monday :lol:

Yes I think so (though not very seriously :P ). You have to realize that 3D screens also take up a lot of 2D screens, it is not releasing in THAT many extra screens, and that $60m while looks easy is that difficult.

You do realise that it's on more cinemas and prints then HP6. You do realise that 3D has a big premium, and average ticket rises for the past 2 years coupled with the weak US$ at the momment.

Transformers 3 OW alone was $220m, that's more than Transformers 2 made in 2 weeks ($190m) in similar markets.

$220m!!!!!, you're telling me that HP7-2 is not going to cream this with JAPAN and much stronger performances in the major markets (it'll likely double TF3 there).

Hard to fathom.

I did say $300m is a possibility with Wednesday release in quite a few markets. I'd say $280m is much better number right now.

Transformers increased generally and not only because of 3D (though that was also a major factor). And HP movies have much more consistent audience rather than increasing ones like TF's

You're lowballing Sparrow, it will trounce your lovely Pirates 4's $260m. Another $40m will not be hard to get, especially when it will put in gigantic numbers in markets like UK, France, Japan, Italy, Spain and Australia.

Potter releases have stablised or increase from their franchise lows. This is the last one so i see the big rush to be this weekend, moreso than Transformers 3.

That's not that much bigger than TF3's $36.6m (incl. previews). Dunno in how many markets that was, though.

It would seem it opened in significantly more countries than Potter did on Wednesday.

Thursday Update: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 had a remarkable overseas debut yesterday, grossing an estimated $43.6 million in 26 territories. Across the same group of territories, that opening day is up 82 percent on Deathly Hallows Part 1 and 49 percent on Half-Blood Prince. The average 3D share was 65 percent.

The movie set opening day records in Australia ($7.5 million), Italy ($4.6 million), Sweden ($2.1 million), Norway ($1.8 million), the Netherlands ($1.7 million), Denmark ($1.6 million), Belgium ($1.4 million) and Finland ($749,000). It also claimed the Wednesday opening record in France ($7.1 million), the preview record in Germany ($5.3 million), and the Warner Bros. opening day record in Russia ($4.1 million).

The "preview opening record" in Germany is creative bookkeeping as the previews lasted a full 24h...

That's over twice as much as HP7-1 did last November ($825,079 or €603,224). That one went on to gross $3,043,121 for the weekend (€2,224,856) or $3,868,200 (€2,828,080) including Wednesday. It's also bigger than the previous record holder (HP6's $1,341,648 or €975,000) by a wide margin. Looks like this'll be the first film to open to over €3 million, and the first film since Avatar that should cross €15 million total.

That's very good, it look like the average 80% increase is across the board. Huge opening day takes in boht Australia and France. In fact, Australia beat France :shock: :shock:

Should pull in a very good opening then. Unlike Pirates 4, HP7-2 arrives in a more crowded market place then May, so its understandable why it didn't get the record screens.

What are the predictions here?

Hmm, looks like a major recovery in Neterhaldns if it does end up doing 15m euro, even LOTRs didn't get that high.

Deathly Hallows 2 is already the top midnight seller of all time for online ticketing service Fandango. MovieTickets.com also reports record business.

---

I wonder if this means it beat Twilight for the biggest advance ticket sales?

Heres some additional info from ScreenDaily.

--

Harry Potter scores $43.6m international opening day

http://www.screendaily.com/news/distrib ... 84.article

Warner Bros Pictures International top brass have released the initial results from 26 countries and as expected there are a string of opening day records.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 grossed as follows:

Australia: $7.5m from 727 screens (58.5% 3D market share) for the biggest opening day including midnight previews;

France: $7.1m from 1,195 (67% 3D market share) for the biggest Wednesday launch;

Germany: $5.3m from 1,641 (77% 3D market share) for the biggest preview result ever;

Italy: $4.6m from 988 (57% 3D market share) for the biggest opening day;

Sweden: $2.1m from 226 (76% 3D market share) for the biggest opening day;

Norway: $1.8m from 259 (76% 3D market share) for the biggest opening day;

Holland: $1.7m from 233 (83% 3D market share) for biggest opening day;

Denmark: $1.6m from 162 (73% 3D market share) for the biggest opening day;

Belgium: $1.4m from 132 (49% 3D market share) for the biggest opening day; and

Finland: $749,000 from 140 (75% 3D market share) for the biggest opening day.

China is scheduled to receive the film on Aug 4. The film opens in North America at midnight tonight (15).

Overall the film launches on 19,500 screens in 59 countries this weekend and all eyes will be on whether it can beat the $260.4m international launch weekend record set in May by Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

--

Speaking of On Stranger Tides, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International sources confirmed today (14) that it has finally overtaken stablemate Alice In Wonderland to reach $1.025bn and rank as the sixth biggest global release in history.

The adventure currently ranks as Disney’s third biggest global release behind Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest on $1.064bn and Toy Story 3 on $1.044bn. Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides has amassed $787m internationally. No film has grossed more overseas or worldwide this year to date.

Meanwhile Pixar’s Cars 2 is roaring along at $133m and while there are no new release scheduled this weekend, major territories like the UK, Germany, France and Japan are on the horizon.

Elsewhere, PPI’s erstwhile overseas champion Transformers: Dark Of The Moon has raced past $400m and currently stands at $416.1m.

I thought previews were in limited amount of theaters in Europe. I have never understood how they did these previews.
