Post Editors Needed!
As you can see, the layout has improved...substantially. Along with new writers, we need editors. I'm currently the only one and I don't have the time to look at every article for grammer (we're trying to make the site more professional, and this means editing most everything...).

If you don't mind making the contribution, please consider. You'll get access to a spiffy little private forum, anyways!

Eagle and I decided that the best way to make sure if you're "up" for this was simply having an applicant correct an awful article for grammer, spelling, and punctuation. We're expecting you to fix up about 70-80 percent of the errors. I suggest, from my own editing, to read the article/paragraph once to get accustomed to the style, once to closely edit and attack the article/paragraph, and once to run through your edits and make sure everything is covered. We're not looking for changed meaning or different words, but for simple punctuation and grammer.

The awful paragraph: "Michael Moore sucks. They let him make “Fahrenheit 9/11”, even though he can’t cite sources and back up his far-fetched views. Several scenes in the movie are meant to be comical, but their nothing more than dumb. Its about Bush and his entire Iraqi scheme, but even that viewpoint isn’t supported. Its as good as a piece of moldy bologna that you eat - it’s only worth seeing so one can crack jokes about Michael Moore’s size. The Bush administration isnt portrayed well in the movie by Michael Moore, who finds their policies are immoral. In reality, the administration, and its outlook on the Iraqi situation, have reason. Moore, like his troup of liberals, have as much credibility as a cat. Between you, Michael Moore, and I, let's make a little deal. Stop making movies and I'll give you $200 million."

There is an error in most sentances...

If you're interested, PM me back with your edits.

Thanks,
Ross and Karl

PS: Current writers/reviewers can do editing, too.

That whole sentence is messed up, anyways.

You guys are all messing up in the same place. They haven't been that bad, though ;)

However. There's a perfectly valid reason why editors who write can't just automatically get their stuff into a paper. Hell, if it hadn't been for errors in my Oscar article, the editor wouldn't have accidently claimed that Vera Drake was nominated for Best Picture. I made her make a box for the upcoming issue that claimed that it wasn't MY fault.

What's wrong with the paragraph? Looks good to me.

*Warning,* anyone who considers themselves adept at editing and decides to become an editor for this site is going to have to deal with my extremely long run-on sentences, where I tend to add commas all over the place, that is, where I prefer a reader stop and pause before continuing, rather than just starting a new sentence, and so create entire lengthy paragraphs that are only on the surface two sentences long.

I'm in the process of cleaning up the contributor section of the forum. If you wish to be an editor, remember, that wr have atleast 2 or 3 reviews or opinion articles up every week and sometimes, upto 6 or 7. Once the site is up and running, there will be more structure. If you wis hto be editor, please be serious about it. If an article comes up for editing, editing time should be less than 24 hours unless the writer tells you it can wait.

Often, I will blame my grammatical problems on the fact that, in theory, english was not my first language, and that I only spoke hebrew until I almost failed out of kindergarden and my parents freaked out and started only speaking english at home so that my sister and I could learn it and not be in the bottom tiered english and reading classes with only two other people. But that excuse only goes so far nowadays when one considers that I've lived in American my entire life, and that I have been speaking english for decades and don't even know hebrew any more except for a little bit of understanding and speaking. :P

Have I solidified your reconsideration of taking up the position? :P

Its my ownpoor writing skills that have led me to be a good editor. I have dyslexia, and so when I write things I leave out words, invert letters, etc...so my first draft of anything is total unreadable ( like most of my posts).

If I had more time I'd do the editing job, but as it stands I doubt I could guarantee having stuff back within 24 hours, it would depend on the day of the week.

I just wanted to add my 2 cents in , and I'm not directing this, just speaking in the most general of terms.

As I've explained, I'm not entirely comfortable with just anybody having access to that forum. There are people who have access now, who haven't done anything. If anybody can make empty promise and get access to priviledged information, it's going to keep people like me from posting any of that info.

I also would like to have a list kept there telling who has access. bABA , you know many of the ideas we've both talked about, and some of those ideas could make this site a major player. I don't want to get them up for discussion at the forum, only to have anybody with personal issues against me, you, or whoever , intentionally sabotage the effort to screw somebody. People do that kind of shit, and even more behind the safety of a computer screen where they aren't going to get an ass beating over it.

This is a major concern of mine, that the contributer forum will have less than trustworthy people or people who talk a big game but don't produce anything. We need dedicated individuals, not curious individuals. We need people are aren't going to spill the beans on stuff that's being planned behind our backs, and screw up things by having a big mouth. We need people who aren't going to go out of their way to sabotage an important contact that some else made, just because of some selfish competition.

No offense to anybody, and I know we need editors, but character should be a big consideration as well, not just editing skills.

Yes, but is it updated?

If I may so bold, if access was in my hands, I see more than a few who would log in today only to find out they no longer have it at that forum. 8-[

I think this conversation should be going on inside the forum you guys are talking about, not here.

Anyway, for what it's worth, I applied.
