And TF3 isn't getting trashed at all?

The same people who liked TF2 like TF3. The same people who didn't like TF2 don't like TF3. It's been pretty consistent. From these here boards (people who've seen TF3 crossed with their TF2 impressions):

Revenge of the Fallen | Dark of the Moon

JURiNG
C- | C

Riggs
"I really liked it a lot." | "Just awesome."

Rev
A- | A+

zingy
"AWESOME." | "The greatest movie in the history of the planet."

nghtvsn
"Overall, I was a bit underwhelmed with transformers." | "I couldn't wait for the film to be over."

The Dark Shape
"...it just spins its wheels for an hour. The robot fighting is still really boring." | "Still way too long. Got a bit bored during the Chicago battle."

Truth is TF2 wasn't THAT much worse than TF1. It's the same movie recycled over and over ago. Just like metal should be. Don't really know what people expect.

From boxoffice - As of 4 p.m. PT, Fandango.com is reporting that Dark of the Moon is responsible for a combined 72% of daily sales—41% for 2D shows and 31% for 3D. The closest film is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II with 8%.

Transformers 3 Gets an A Cinamascore. Two grades higher than part 2

A- Yahoo grade
90% flixter rating.

Looks like WOM is just as good if not better than the first movie.

I'm sure it'll do for Transformers 2 what it did for Iron Man 2 and Shrek Forever After.

Umm....Shrek Forever After might have disappointed overall, but its legs were quite better than expected and way better than for Shrek the Third.

TF3's legs could very well be better than 2's, in the same way that Forever After's were. But it didn't amount to anything then, nor would it this time. It's still going to be the lowest grossing of the series.

Fandango % Sales as of 6/30

Transformers: Dark of the Moon - 55%,
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 - 20%,
Cars 2 - 8%,
Bad Teacher - 3%,
Super 8 - 1%

Not so good for the Friday openers.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon will certainly not be the lowest grossing of the series worldwide. And that's what counts for the studios. Even if it doesn't make as much as Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (and that film had an absolutely incredible run) it's going to make Paramount a boatload of money.

Larry Crowne $3.5M-$4M today for only a $14M-$15M four-day holiday.
Transformers: Dark Of The Moon mid to high $20sM
Monte Carlo $3M-$3.5M today, for an $8M-$10M for the four-day weekend.

Way too early. Evening shows are just starting on the East Coast. Larry Crowne should do better at night.

I wouldn't much like that Monte Carlo number.

Larry Crowne will beat out Monte Carlo because of the much stronger IM, but it will be rather embarrassing for Crowne if the two open fairly close to each other.

And yes, the film looks terrible, but people have seen plenty of garbage in the past. At least this has two of the biggest stars Hollywood has ever known.

Holdovers should certainly do solid. Larry Crowne doesn't look like it will do much damage to Midnight in Paris.

I think TF3 will end up closer to 30 million than to 25 million.

In Canada it easily had its busiest day yet...

Larry Crowne
7:30 show, 200-seat theater, 90% full.

Trailers
Crazy Stupid Love
The Change-Up
One Day
I Don't Know How She Does It
Moneyball

Movie
A genial but thoroughly unremarkable comedy. Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts are their affable selves and clearly had fun with each other making the film. However, Hanks the actor is let down by Hanks the director/screenwriter. As co-written with Nia "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" Vardalos, Larry Crowne is full of pleasant people saying pleasant things, but that's about the extent of its reach. C+

Saw Larry Crowne and Dark of the Moon today.

For what it's worth, both films received heavy applause at the end.

Transformers: Dark Of The Moon (2D)
7:40 showing, 100-seat theater, FULL.

Trailers
Apollo 18
Captain America
Rise Of The Apes
Mission: Impossible
Moneyball
Real Steel

Movie
Overall it was deffentially better than TF2, but I still like the first movie more. The action was better and unlike the last one the forced attempts at comedy were actually bearable eventhough they still take it a little too far at times. Also they could have seriously cut like 30 minutes out of the movie and it wouldn't make much of a difference at all, but the crowd seemed to enjoy it throughout and there was even some clapping at the end. B-

Weird, at least when it comes to Larry Crowne.

It works overtime to be crowd-pleasing.
