Re: Sellouts and Crowd Reports Thread June 24th - July 4th
Also I'm starting to finally see some sellouts for Bad Teacher here in Houston. Looks like it's going to be a strong date night movie afterall. There are also a few for Cars 2 aswell, but only 2D so far.

Bad Teacher must have solid walk-up business. The advance sales numbers were paltry leading up to today.

Re: Sellouts and Crowd Reports Thread June 24th - July 4th
This just goes to show you should never rely on advance ticket sales too much especially when it comes to comedies. I remember last year when Grown Ups and The Other Guys were doing poorly on fandango too, but were saved big time by the last minute and big walk-up business. Unless there on the same blockbuster levels as The Hangover 2 comedies are never easy to track when it comes to advance ticket sales.

Wow, if it goes as high as 25 for Friday, that is pretty darn impressive!!!

Re: Sellouts and Crowd Reports Thread June 24th - July 4th
WALL-E had a 2.72 weekend multiplier. I can't imagine Cars 2 would go much below that. So it would definitely be above 65M with a 25M Friday. The low end of 23M, given that multiplier, would put it right about at MTC tracking of 63M.

It's a comedy that's not a sequel, how often have we seen huge advance sales for films like that? That would be...hardly ever. Y'all need to use context. Anyway, Cars 2 looks headed for a solid enough weekend, and Bad Teacher seems to be doing terrifically. I'm glad Cameron Diaz is anchoring a sizable hit here, I feel like she gets a lot of undeserved hate so I'm happy to see this. Also: I don't want to jinx it but I think the R-rated comedy success train is going to continue with Horrible Bosses and Friends with Benefits, the next two up.

I don't think FWB will since it's virtually the same as NSA. That will give enough time for Change Up to breakout in August. Also, less competition for CSL. Hopefully HB opens to 30m+ and Zookeeper loses the weekend to it.

Re: Sellouts and Crowd Reports Thread June 24th - July 4th
Bad Teacher 8:30 show, 300-seat theater, sold out.
Trailers Horrible Bosses The Change-Up 30 Minutes or Less The Help Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star What's Your Number? Footloose
Movie Bad Teacher is a bit disjointed but is a funny and over-the-top farce. Cameron Diaz seems like she's having a ball as the irreverent title character. Jason Segel (who I adore in pretty much everything) is also on point, although I do wish there had been another scene or two with his character. The movie could've used an extra 10 minutes in general, actually. Justin Timberlake is amusingly twerpy, while Lucy Punch is a riot as a "perfect" teacher actually on the verge of a nervous breakdown throughout the film. The film is successful at making Elizabeth at least somewhat likable without muting her edge, largely thanks to the strong work from Diaz. B
Crowd reaction was really good.

I saw X-Men: First Class tonight at 9:50. Only 20 or so people were at the showing, but the theater was very, very busy at such a late time.

I saw Beginners again tonight. Around 25 people there. Trailers were One Day and Sarah's Key.
Loved it even more the second time.

I have to assume Fandango hasn't updated their Top 5 yet, but it's strange that Transformers 3 wasn't on the list last week, either.
