 Re: Friday Numbers
Not bad for Lantern, but declined from Nikki's early numbers (imagine that).
Pretty good for Popper's considering it should hold well on Father's Day. Don't think either will have spectacular legs with poor WOM and stiff competition, respectively.

 Re: Friday Numbers
I think it is pretty pathetic that Hangover 2 is developing legs whilst Panda 2 has one of the most humiliating runs ever.
Don't try and we'll make you millionaires.

 Re: Friday Numbers
What are you talking about, Panda has much better drops than Hangover. This week Panda probably lost a lot of its 3D screens.

 Re: Friday Numbers
I'm more surprised that you guys think Hangover II is developing good legs? $10 mill for 4th weekend/Father's Day weekend after $100+ mill 4-day opener? Bridesmaids has great legs (figuratively and literally). Hangover II just stopped having 50+% drops. That was inevitable for a comedy.

 Re: Friday Numbers
Superb hold for MIDNIGHT IN PARIS.
Bridesmaids held quite well considering the theater loss. 24.3% down, but the per theater average is down only 10.0% after a loss of just under 500 theaters.

I think Bridesmaids will drop 40%+ next weekend with Bad Teacher opening.

 Re: Friday Numbers
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer also opened on the Father's Day weekend back in 2007...I assume a simi8lar, just slightly better multiplier for Green Lantern (since it is not a sequel). so around $57.5-58.5 million will happen. And a total gross around $140-145 million. It sure as hell won't pass $150 million, IMO...not with Transformers ahead of it.
Terrific for Bridesmaids...but for once, the story of the weekend is not Bridesmaids, but Midnight in Paris. $50+ million total, anyone?

 Re: Friday Numbers
If this shows anything, its that Green Lantern had Iron Man potential box office wise if things had all gone right for it (buzz, reviews, marketing, being the second 'green' superhero movie, being the 3rd superhero movie in 7 weeks, lack of a huge female star, etc).
A low $60's opening despite all of these factors...WB potentially could have had a $250 m + film and a major new franchise...

The only cause of a 40%+ drop will be major theater loss, until they drop 2/3s of its theaters in one weekend I doubt it'll even drop above 30%.

That was early in its run plus it was long weekend. now its well into its run and Bad Teach with diaz will be strong competition for the same demo. I am willing to bet it will have the worst drop so far next weekend.

Well it lost 50% of its theaters ( again EDIT: went back and checked - I have no idea why but I thought it lost 50% last week, two, but it was 35%, still these past two weeks have been merciless in theater drops for Thor, but surprisingly it's still solid) and this time probably all 3D theaters were cut away I guess, hence the not so stellar Friday. But this should still be good for a 1m weekend I think.

 Re: Friday Numbers
Quite strong for Green Lantern and Mr. Popper's Penguins should benefit from Father's Day enough to perhaps crack $20M.
Super 8 will probably have a pretty strong FD boost as well so the drop could be around 40%. Very good.
Midnight in Paris dipped just 4% even though it didn't add that many theaters. I think it's sticking around for a while.

And to the surprise of probably no one, The Art of Getting By is DOA. I have no idea what they were thinking putting it out so wide.

Green Lantern earned a B CinemaScore, while 63% of the audience was over the age of 25. Link - http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/b ... ern-202992.

I think Green Lantern will be very front loaded. I can't see it doing more than 140. WB really screwed up this potential franchise.
