Thor...only if our village idiot starts booking out theaters with his retirement funds.

Green Lantern....No Way, the cgi looks too cgi and its just too damn green...actually the batman wannabe voice growl is even worse than batmans. As much as i like the lead he just cant carry a film past 200 by himself.

Xmen and Captain America...will both be over 180M Domestic (xmen over 200 i think, reviews are rock solid) with Captain being on life support and barely squeeking by, unless it gets a shitton of bad reviews..but it really should have opened july 4th weekend. Terrible timing on the studio's part to miss that but i guess its too crowded with transformers on that weekend and they wanted a #1 opening.

Thor is going to make it to $180 million. Legs might falter with the films coming out (with X-Men being its most direct competition yet), but it only needs $18 million more coming off a $9.4 million weekend. Its legs will have to turn completely abysmal for it to miss the mark.

I find it quite amusing that the first comic-book film that came out this summer will most likely put an end to this club.

Isnt it going to lose a big chunk of screens this weekend? What with Xmen First Class hitting right at its core audience as well as taking screens from it, i expect a hard drop percentage this next weekend and i don't see it recovering from that enough to earn another 18 million. If the reviews keep coming on fresh for Xmen i wouldnt be surprised if additional theaters are added quickly.

and right behind more theater takers are on the way cars, green lantern, transformers....its not gonna make it.

Next weekend 4-5 million ish and its all downhill from there. You need a lot of small numbers to add up to 18 million.

and the theater shedding continues the following weeks as more films eat its dwindling people pie.

One thing is for sure its not hitting 300 million like the resident moron Captain Mall Cop proclaimed. Not even 200 million.

It gets close but unless they do something to push it, 180 is just barely out of reach, and i dont see them doing a push unless its to get it over 200 million, but it needs to be much closer to warrant that push - like at 195+.

Its really gonna hinge on how many theaters it sheds this week. If its more than 800....

This will probably the worst weekend for Thor. It is coming of a holiday weekend with almost 40% drop, big screen loss and the most direct competition it is facing (F5 was also a competition I presume still that time Thor was the competition to F5 and not the other way around). Considering the best it can do is 40% drop I expect it will fall about 60% in the coming weekend for $3.8m with a total of $169m. I don't see it getting a multiplier of 3 from $3.8 when X-Men will be spreading its wings and Super8 coming next weekend. The theater loss would literally kill the movie from here on.

On the other hand it is not impossible though if Super 8 opens soft then there might be breathing space for holdovers still though X-Men would then be the most beneficial among all which does not help Thor.

Fox knows that the movie is a huge disappointment at the boxoffice. This will be the lowest grossing x-men movie and the lowest grossing comicbook movie of this year.

The funny thing is that I expected this, but after seeing the reviews I was hoping it would crack 60m.

Ah well.

Matthew Vaughn is a boxoffice poison.

Stardust - bomb
Kick Ass - lots of hype and good reviews, but another boxoffice disappointment
Add x-men:fc to the list.

I don't care if Matthew Vaughn is boxoffice poison to you as long as he makes great movies.

I'd rather have 10 great Vaughn movies flopping than 10 mediocre Brett Ratner movies making gazillions...

The chances of this club succeeding is 99%,

I don't expect CA to do more than 175m domestically and 150m overseas.

I'd be agreeing with the cluib if not for C&A. But that is still an adaptation and I expect it to break out.

Anyone still think Thor is going to make it over 180M?

Title Distributor Theater Count Change % Change Week #
Thor Paramount 875 -907 -50.9% 7

It lost over half its remaining theaters this for this weekend.
and Currently stands at 175M. With 875 theaters left, and two new releases next weekend Cars and Bad Teacher grabbing 6900 more screens Thor is sure to shed another 400+ screens.

I am thinking very close but no cigar.

Xmen no way at its current pace and gross but i don't think anyone expected X to pass 180M and the same for Green Lantern - just No feasible way with all the competition for moviegoers dollars in the following weeks - glad it had a respectable opening though.

Looks like this club is going to be 3-0 until Captain America comes out.

Captain America is screwed too! BKB supporting a movie is never a good sign.

Yeah its kind of like The New girl in highschool who just transferred in....that was hot till everyone found out the new fat kid that just transferred in with that sits in front of the class and eats his boogers is her brother.

If the Captain America is the new girl, i think we know who the booger eater is.

Despite losing 50% theaters last week it held well throughout the week. Just under 40% drops every day. It still has dollar theaters to get a boost from and CA boost. After this week it will need another $4 million. It's getting there.
