 Hangover 2 (INTL)
The first one did $190m and the second one looks to be even bigger...
Here in Germany pre-sales are really good (it's opening June 1st with 8pm previews) and I'm expecting the 2nd biggest opening of the year (so far) behind PIRATES 4...
Darling Nikki writes: Overseas, Hangover 2 opened bigger than the original in 30 markets including Australia and the UK, where it is dominating with 60+% market share. The sequel's opening day is bigger than the entire opening weekend of Hangover 1.
I'm thinking $350m INTL for H2 and more than $600m WW... - not bad on a $80m budget...

 Re: Hangover 2 (INTL) $59m & counting...
Better figures I would say as that huge total is supported heavily by domestic numbers. So did it release in a lot of small markets? $59m from 40 countries when half of it ($28m) came from UK and Australia alone doesn't sound as great.

 Re: Hangover 2 (INTL) $59m & counting...
So France, Italy and Thailand (considering it is filmed there) should have been much bigger as well which means the numbers from rest of the markets isn't good.
Let's see how it performs as it rolls out to more markets next weekend. There are still some really good markets to come, so hopefully it does well to make more than $300m OS this time. I don't think this will reach $600m WW at this rate but pull great numbers for a comedy nonetheless

 Re: Hangover 2 (INTL) $59m & counting...
Screendaily
Warner Bros Picture International (WBPI) launched raunchy comedy sequel The Hangover Part II, produced by the studio with Legendary Pictures, on 5,170 screens in 40 international markets. The $59m opening (representing 7.2m admissions) was three times bigger than the opening of the original film in the same markets, said WBPI.
The $190.2m international total achieved by the 2009 original was surprisingly large for an R-rated comedy and WBPI is giving the sequel - which opened in North America this weekend with a record-breaking $86.5m - a big international push.
Part II opened top in the UK with a massive $16.4m from 920 screens in 469 situations, the biggest opening ever in the market for a US comedy, said WBPI, and the biggest opening of any kind this year, beating the high achieved over four days last weekend by fourth Pirates film On Stranger Tides. The sequel opened 183% bigger than the original in the territory.
Part II also knocked Pirates 4 off the top spot in Australia, taking $11.6m (902,000 admissions) from 424 screens, the biggest opening ever in the territory for an MA-rated (under 15 not permitted) release. The opening was 12% bigger than the opening of Pirates 4 and 217% bigger than that of the original film.
In France, Part II generated an estimated $5.8m (approximately 662,000 admissions) from 445 screens, 154% higher on an admissions basis than the opening of the original.
Italy produced an estimated $4.7m (554,000 admissions) from 566 screens, five times higher than the original film; Mexico opened 88% higher than the original, with $3.2m (784,000 admissions) from 849 screens; and Brazil delivered an estimated $2.7m (411,000 admissions) from 325 screens, more than double the opening take of the original.

 Re: Hangover 2 (INTL) $59m & counting...
Hangover 2 opened with an impressive €1,193,100 in the Netherlands. That's well above the first entry's opening weekend (€488,864 or less than half of HO2's gross) and sets it up to cruise past the first film's €3,654,825 total. I should have expected something this big when my boss (who's turning 50 this year) talked full of anticipation about this film last week.
Third biggest weekend of the year too, behind POTC and Gooische Vrouwen.

While it is expected to open bigger in all the markets given the first part has great WOM and legs, we will have to watch its legs in the coming weeks. I don't think the WOM for this one will be near strong and movies can go down heavily in OS markets without that.

Also a host of new films are coming out in June and then any screens left will be squeezed out when Transformers 3 opens.

Signs are definitely pointing at an 1,000,000+ nadmissions opening for The Hangover II here. That's just amazing.
$300+ million overseas is a lock.

I expect this to triple its predecessor's OW gross here. Maybe even quadruple considering the Monday holiday will inflate the Sunday admissions. It could even make what the original did in its total run in 1 weekend (4-day).

Agreed $300m seems an absolute lock at this time. Here it is getting smaller screens with less theaters but the screens are always in that RED signal showing that the tickets are selling fast

Looking very strong in Australia. Added over $3m in its 2nd full week, this has a good shot at $27-30m.

$151m is very impressive. It should easily eclipse the original in OS market. Expecting another $150m with about 30% more markets to open.

Incredible performance. 700,000+ admissions in its second weekend, a decline smaller than 35% and a guaranteed 3,500,000+ admissions total. Wow...
I suppose $400+ million overseas can happen.
