Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 4 (INTL)
We had new IMAX theater here in Singapore and the ticket prices are 3 times the normal price. All the shows were sold out. Not only that all the big auditoriums in 3 major theater chains were sold-out for Thursday evening shows and there were quite a few shows. Though Singapore is a small market this is going to be HUGE here.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 4 (INTL)
This is performing just where i kinda thought it would do. Some big numbers in growth markets, but either on par or below Pirates 2/3 in most other markets in local dollars....with the weak US$ bringing it up to Pirates 2 or 3 levels.
This will easily blow pass $600m overseas no question.,

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 4 (INTL)
Pirates 4
Day 0: $166,117 Day 1: $342,015
Total: $508,132
Heading towards 2.2-2.6m for the 4-day. 2.3-2.8m for the 4.25 day. Slightly below the 3rd one. Not good when tickets for this one (Pirates 4) is about 35-45% more expensive.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 4 (INTL)
Pirates 4 OD in Australia.
AU$1.623m
DMC and AWE both opened to over AU$2m. So its AT LEAST 25% lower and that's with inflation and 3D.
Another poor sign for OST.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 4 (INTL)
AUSTRALIA (AU$) - Opening Day
Well down on the previous two Pirates and just ahead of Thor. Thor ended up grossing AU$5.35m through the Easter Weekend, so if it follows that trajectory it would be looking at just above $6.1m, if it follows Pirates 2 it'll be doing $6.7m+ and Pirates 3, it'll be doing close to $9m
I think Pirates 4 will have a multiplier similar to Pirates 3 and grow through the weekend.....though with this sorta opening day we can pretty much kiss $10m goodbye...

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 4 (INTL)
The pic is pacing 10% ahead of "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End." Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides continued to rock on Thursday at the international box office, grossing $25.7 million as it expanded into 27 additional markets and bringing its two-day total to $44.2 million from 37 territories. All told, On Stranger Tides is pacing 10 percent ahead of where Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, the last film in the blockbuster franchise, was at in its first two days at the foreign box office. Many territories open films either on Wednesday or Thursday, versus the traditional Friday in the U.S. On Stranger Tides is doing staggering business in Russia, where it opened on Wednesday to a record-breaking $5 million. On Thursday, it grossed another $5.2 million. The two-day total is 365 percent ahead of At World’s End. In the U.S., On Stranger Tides, which cost $250 million to make, opens on Friday, playing in a total of 4,155 theaters. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/d ... ive-190672

They messed up something again. According to our local sources Pitates grossed around $4.73 mln on Wednesday and $4.45 mln on Thursday.

Even the language of dubbed copies is different as well as distributors. There is no way also it could increase on Thursday, in fact even 8% drop looks amazing.

ROTS grossed $38.4m at this point and went on to gross $145.5m. THis one looks primed for $150m. Some comparisons: Harry Potter 6: HBP - $237,000,000 (34m adms. - 84/15,900) Spiderman 3 - $230,544,376 (6-Day - All Markets - 75/107/16,711) or $292.5m week Pirates Of The Caribbean 3: At World’s End - $216,361,000 (5-Day or $172.5m 3-Day – All except China/India – 102/17,600) or $251,041,000 by Mon or $295m week Harry Potter 7-1: DH - $205m (26.8m adms. incl. $4.3m IMAX - 54/19,000) Harry Potter 5: OOTP - $193,000,000 ($185,215,578 5-Day or $148,768,692 3-Day incl. $2.1m on 35 - All except Japan/China - 44/13317) or $254m week Avatar - $164,545,565 (106/14,604) or $193.8m by Mon (Day 6) 2012 - $165,232,860 (105/12,685) or $227m week The Da Vinci Code - $155,000,649 ($152,447,236 - All markets - 57/12,182) or $212m week Ice Age 3: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs - $151,697,196 (101/11,652) Star Wars 3: ROTS - $145,534,793 (All except Japan/SKorea - 105c/114t//10,489) Indiana Jones: The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull - $146,388,656 (55/8427) The Twilight Saga: New Moon - $132,100,000 (24/6873) Lord Of The Rings: ROTK - $126.8m (UK/Germany/France/Scandinavia/Latin America – 28/7403) -- BTW - Sweden's opening day of $1.3m is pretty big, it's on course to go at least Top 5 and may challenge Arn, ROTK and Pirates 3 for the Top 3...all grossing in excess of $4.3m. In Italy Pirates Of The Caribbean 3: At World’s End - $1.9m Pirates Of The Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides - $1.7m Pirates 3 ended up hitting above $9.4m.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 4 (INTL) $44m in 2 days
Its at $92.1m after 3 days according to Nikki Quote: Pirates 4's international grosses continue to overperform the results of Pirates 3 in most of the 70 foreign markets. This included Russia where 3D continues to play huge and star Johnny Depp showed up for the premiere: $15.6M there so far which has already passed the previous opening weekends of the Pirates franchise. On Friday, the fourquel took in $46.2M overseas (China not included) which is above Pirates 2 (2%) and Pirates 3 (24%) initial Friday performance because of solid results in big markets like Italy, Germany, and the UK. In the first 3 days of release, the film has taken in $92.1M which is 8% higher than Pirates 3 that ultimately took in $216M internationally, the 3rd biggest debut in weekend history. Pirates 4 is already the biggest overseas opening of 2011, with Wednesday opened in 33% of the international market, Thursday 32%, and Friday 35%

There is a chance it takes #1 on the All-Time Foreign Opening Weekend Chart.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 4 (INTL) $44m in 2 days
Yep, it's tracking ahead of AWE and will surely lead it throughout the weekend. Anything between $210-240 is possible, heck it may even hit $250m.

I really think this one is going to cross the 1 billion mark. the new story is going to draw a lot of people to the box office. Also, the 3D helped a lot of movies. i really don't think "Avatar" would have succeeded the way it did if it wasn't in 3D.

I expected a similar thing as well. Russia and China have just grown huge in last couple of years. And it wasn't very far from AWE in rest of its markets. Needless to say that it will still be bigger in rest of Asia (mostly smaller markets) which is still growing.

I think it will make at least 650 probably around 670 OS, 1 Billion is going to be really hard considering it will make 260 at the most in the U.S. A little over 900 million is most likely.
