Who is taking home Best Picture this year?
I'm going out on a limb and saying War Horse.

I am. And I am giving it to David Fincher.

We Bought A Zoo. Not only that, it will be the surprise box office winner of the Christmas season.

The Tree of Life might not even be nominated. Divisive, arty film. May release. Lots against it. Though with the ten slots, I s'pose the Malick faithful, if there are enough of them, could land it a nomination.

Ebert compared it to 2001, for god's sake. It'll be well-remembered at the end of the year.

Re: Who is taking home Best Picture this year?
The Tree of Life is so, so much more likely to get an easy BP nomination than it is to make 60 million.

Re: Who is taking home Best Picture this year?
I suppose so. But I seriously wouldn't be surprised if it missed and was replaced in the ten by a more conventional, consensus-friendly fall/winter release.

True, this fall does seem stacked with movies with lots of potential. At the least, it should pick up nominations for Cinematography... Maybe Special Effects? (I haven't seen it yet so would appreciate input on this in particular)

Re: Who is taking home Best Picture this year?
Cinematography, Editing, and Visual Effects would be VERY well-deserved nominations. Those are musts or the Academy is insane.
Pitt, too, for Best Supporting Actor. Good chance.
Alexandre Desplat's score is very nice, but the movie has so many classical pieces...might hurt his chances.
