James Cameron Doesn't Expect Glassless 3D in His Lifetime
Not theatrically. http://www.gamespot.com/news/6310237.ht ... bj=6310237Quote: Cameron said he does not expect glasses-free 3D viewing technology to come to theaters in his lifetime, but he does expect the technology to arrive for in-home viewing, as he sees it as a necessity. This is a sad statement. Do you think he's kidding, or maybe misdirecting our attention while planning a surprise in 2012? I'm thinking of ways to do it and I'm not even getting paid for it. Why isn't he?

2D movies are already in 3D as far as our brains are concerned - - Cameron's talking about this fakoid stereoscopy they keep trying to pawn off on us as "3D".
It's time for the rubes to wake up.

It's time for the rubes to wake up. Well no...but would you agree that a true holographic system might be desirable sometime in the future? And if not, then why not?

I'd love to see a system like holography that allows for a natural sense of focus and depth, but I appreciate that others may disagree. The ultimate system would allow collapsing the view digitally to a flat 2D latency like conventional media, or turning it up for a surround mode experience.

I hope to see theatre scale high resolution holographic "movies" in my lifetime. Even if they could make a glassless 3D film on a 2D screen - - who cares? It's still an unnecessarily artificial stereoscopic illusion, not 3D.

Anyone who knows anything about technology knows that it is advancing at an exponential rate. We're living in golden times, people!
