So what did you think of Tron: Legacy's run?
It'll probably make another couple hundred thousand and pass $172M in total when all is said and done.
So what do you think about its run?
Sure it didn't have a big opening, but its legs were still good enough for a winter blockbuster. I think it is definitely enough to warrant another film.
I would put its performance at good.

I think excellent, especially considering the run of its predecessor and the subject of sci fi virtual reality movies, a very tough sell. Also it opened very well compared to tracking expectations.

Good seems the natural choice to me. It WAS a sequel to an '80s cult item after all. It did well enough. Yet anything higher than "good" feels excessive because there was always the -chance- of a BIG (over)performance, which didn't materialize. Disney did sell the shit out of it.

It had a 170m budget though.
I have yet to see the film and see for myself it it warrants a "it was fun".

Re: So what did you think of Tron: Legacy's run?
I voted average. It's not bad for the genre and a solid expansion from the original, but as BK said it had a 170m budget. It's clear Disney was pushing this as their major tentpole of the winter, and given the early advertisements had a feel and reminded me distinctly of star trek, which certainly was not an easier sell than a Tron sequel, I think the performance was fine in the end but nothing impressive.

Exactly. If they don't know how to behave, and feel OK offending others, they get their ass kicked, so they'll think next time before opening their rotten mouths.

Re: So what did you think of Tron: Legacy's run?
I think it is actually POOR in terms of expectations. They tried this to be the next Avatar by making a 15 minute preview screening of the movie 6 months back and all...very close release date, strong visuals and heavy promotion.
It is GOOD in terms of box-office run. Other than a little lower than expected OW, it seemed to have fine legs for a December movie, it looks like this will snag the December win from True Grit in the end, so it is good there.
It is EXCELLENT in terms of increase from the predecessor. For a very rare prequel that was mostly liked by a select few people, this made tons better (even though obviously Disney was selling this as a tentpole and the marketing was huge this time)
I'd say it is GOOD but nothing special at all.

GOOD, as a fan of the franquise I was really expecting to make more money, however it had decent legs, almost a multiplier of 4 (3.9),,,,,, I hope disney greenlights a sequel, I would die to see it

I'd say it is GOOD but nothing special at all. I'd agree with GOOD overall as well. If anything slightly better than good as my expectations were for $170-$200m anyway so it did well. But the budget certainly hurt it.

I voted "excellent" because I never believed there'd be enough suckers to push this foul stench over $100 mil.
