Right.

So let me get this straight: you were NOT suggesting that the conventional wisdom about 9/11 was wrong?

No, and I'd never buy one if the device manufacturer insists on withholding OS updates from me.

There was no major issue, it's just that I used to like having 1 box for everything - all mail, texts, and calls (missed, voice mail, etc..). It was nice with the BB to call up that one box and have a quick picture of everything. Oh, and unless I missed something I don't like not being able to mark all messages as read.

Is there an easy way to move pictures back and forth between the phone and PC? The iTunes way of syncing a folder is a pain. I tried an app "PhotoFolders" which that helps, but it still is more painful then drag and drop. Is there anything better?

This reminded me of a thing called DropBox. Is anyone using it? Is it any good? A friend of mine linked it to me a few days ago because she basically wants some additional space on her account or something like that. I can see the practical use but the question is if that thing uses a lot of bandwidth etc. It looks easier to use USB stick than this because USB speed transfer is faster than the net around here. I was wondering if there were any additional perks to this besides this being a magical pocket...

Now, 350,000 Android devices are activated each day, and there are more than 170 smartphones and tablets running Android, according to the search giant.

Much of Android's success can be chalked up to Google's open business model: Google licenses the mobile OS for free, allowing handset manufacturers to load the ready-made software onto their phones instead of paying a team of engineers to develop a proprietary platform. They can customize it as much as they like, too.

Here's a thought provoking comparison of Apple's possible entry into the television hardware market this year and it's entry into the cellphone hardware market in 2007.

I'm not sure I'd ever buy an Apple TV, but I'd sure welcome them into the market.

Unfortunately, cable companies like Comcast dominate the set top box market. We really don't need a new TV, the current hardware is fine ... we need a new set top box. There is no innovation in the segment, and nothing pushing cable companies to innovate.

The problem is compounded because you can't remove the cable operators interface from the TV, you just have to deal with it. True innovation in this segment will come, but I fear it will take quite a while as it's arrival is likely to be tied to better content delivery via streaming over the net.

The music empire and the communication empire have already fallen at Apple's feet - - the cable empire is an insidious rival of the same calibre - - prepare to see them grovelling for a piece of the Apple pie in less than five years.

Never underestimate the shrewdness of Steve Jobs.

I used to think there was nothing my iPhone couldn't do, but I finally found one thing... it can't swim. I now have my new iPhone, and apparently now I'll have to try to keep from throwing the thing into a bowl of water.

Problem is ... those industries didn't have a set top box. Without a set top box you can't get On Demand, pay-per-view, or the on-screen program guide. If your TV has a CableCARD you can bypass the set top box and get all the digital channels.

If Apple is able to somehow build a TV that has the following, they will have an impact:

- Hardware on par with Samsung
- Price on par with Sony
- NO set top box needed, cable goes from wall to TV
- Wifi and/or hard line options built into the tv
- Their own proprietary menu system which provides a unified interface to browse TV, Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, iTunes, the web, etc for video content.

PS ... sorry you took your iPhone swimming Tony.

Apple TV isn't the same as a TV made by Apple, heh. I assume a TV made by Apple would incorporate everything Apple TV does built in.

I have a feeling if Apple made a TV... it wouldn't be able to watch TV.

RIMM's earning and forecast today were pretty terrible, and the thing is it's really hard to see Blackberry reversing the trend against iPhone/Android anytime in the future.
