Fincher fans have just a month before they will understand how it feels to see the superior film snubbed.

Another thing I'm wondering is that which film came in 10th for the BP. Winter's Bone got 3 other major noms, Mark Ruffalo got in for The Kids Are All Right, and 127 Hours also showed strength with screenplay, editing, score, and song; Toy Story 3 got Pixar's usual share of 5 noms as well. At least it indicates to me that the difference between 10th and 11th is pretty big this time.

Yeah, there's no Crazy Heart this year with two acting noms, two of which it is likely to win.

I mean 15 of the acting noms went to the BP nominees. Nine of the Screenplay noms went to BP nominees. Of the five remaining acting nominees and one screenplay nominee...none of them is from the same film. It is nearly impossible to tell which film was #11. I am not even sure about The Town. It only got one nom...

The question is also...wich film would have been snubbed with five nominees? Black Swan? I mean it got only a disappointing number of five nominations and none for Screenplay or Sup. Actress. Or Inception?

I am pretty sure True Grit, The Fighter, The Social Network and The King's Speech would have been in the first five anyway.

Atonement - no Directing + no Editing
Little Miss Sunshine - no Directing + no Editing
Chocolat - no Directing + no Editing
In the Bedroom - no Directing + no Editing
The Green Mile - no Directing + no Editing

I just don't believe we would have had another 5/5 BP/BD match.

127 Hours could sneak in for the 5 BP field. It got screenplay (beating out Black Swan there) and editing, along with support from other techs.

I think its telling that everyone is spending all their time wondering what a proper field of five would look like.

Please fix academy, you make me so sad

So no acting + no directing + no editing = No BP.

Yeah, it is quite obvious that the Academy liked it a lot. Now what I am wondering...will the film really end up winning nothing or is there a chance it will actually get a consolation Oscar for something?

Because if not, it'll likely be the most-nominated film of the night to win nothing.

Song is the best bet for 127 Hours, considering the competition and the presence of A.R. Rahman.

Hmm, I recently read that during the last 76 ceremonies there have been only TWO occasions on which a movie has won Screenplay/Editing/Director, but lost Picture - A Place in the Sun (to An American in Paris) and Traffic (to Gladiator). Certainly bodes well for TSN, though it must be said that, at this point, The Social Network is not an absolute lock to win Editing. It won't go to The King's Speech or The Fighter, but I could see 127 Hours taking it...

Yeah...though him winning TWO Oscars just very recently won't help.

How about Editing? Could be a shocking win. Though without an ACE nom, probably unlikely.

I still can't believe "You Haven't Seen the Last of Me" wasn't nominated for Best Song. ;)

Randy Newman only has one Oscar, maybe he can win again...

I think this season has been sooooo boring with TSN dominating everything that people are willing to clutch onto any possible scenario that ends with TSN not winning the BP. TSN just can't lose it. In all previous shock wins there was at least some indication. This really is the first bump in the road for TSN, but it doesn't really change the game (if TKS picks up SAG, DGA then we can talk).
