How much will your service plan cost over the duration of your contract?

He's already made the decision to go with the iPhone, so it doesn't matter. You might as well bring up cost of groceries, cable bill and car insurance. At the end of the day 100 bucks is 100 bucks.

 Re: The Tech thread
Checking eBay, the price difference is slim to non-existent.
Besides, the overall cost of the contract is still irrelevant.

The 8gb she filled also included several pics, vids, and extras. I really think keeping it to the 10gb of best songs wouldn't be an issue at all, especially with the streaming iTunes thing. Just wanted to be sure 6gb is good for normal amount of apps and extras. If so, sounds like no reason to get a 32gb... it would just be wasted space. For myself, I like to keep the music collection on the lighter side as it gets a little overwhelming when trying to look through 100gb+ of music.

I don't resell any of my phones/electronic equipment, so that won't be much. The $200 extra isn't a big deal, but as Krem said, if I don't need it and can instead waste it on something really cool (I'm thinking diamond studded thong so I can get Krem some more pics), then why not?

 Re: The Tech thread
First off, wow, that's a lot of music!!
Second, you may not have re-sold your phone before, but you're nuts not to now. I jumped on the Apple ship with the 3G 8GB back in August of 2008, getting one for both me and my wife. When the 4G came out, we both upgraded, both got 16GB. I then sold the two 3G phones for over $210 each, essentially making the upgrade free.
Now, the resale on the Verizon iPhone is bound to be less, but it'll still be significant. You'll be giving hundreds of dollars away by not reselling them. Heck, even iPhones with cracked screens go for crazy amounts of money.

 Re: The Tech thread
Wow, Krem seems almost unnaturally invested in the 16GB iPhone - - just nod and back away slowly.
One reason I also like my 32GB is that it requires much less juggling. Sure some people are iTunes crazy and flip different lists of apps and music every time they synch, but I'm the opposite. I synch every three months or so and just lay in all the new music I've gotten in the interim.
Another thing to consider is large apps. One of my faves is the Navigon GPS app - - it's 1.56GB itself, but you need about an additional 3GB empty to do updates to large apps like that for it to install properly. Again, you can juggle and delete as a workaround, but 32GB is just luxury.
I'm eligible to upgrade to the iPhone 5 this summer, and I'll be getting the 64GB model they'll surely be offering then. Sh!t's not gettin' smaller as the years go by. (My first laptop had an 80MB hard drive.)

Well I stick movies on my iphone and those can be 500 or more mbs. Maybe less depending on how you convert them. Right now though the films I have are all digital copies from movies so they take up more space. I have a 32gb and I got it mainly just to be able to have that extra space if/when it's needed.

Looks like Eric Schmidt bailed out of the Google plane just in time... Quote: Florian Mueller published a piece this morning alleging Google directly copied somewhere between 37 and 44 Java source files in Android....
Oracle is dead-set on winning this case and eventually extracting a per-handset royalty on every Android handset shipped.

 Re: The Tech thread
Poorly written article, it's not nearly cut and dry. Suffice it to say, the comments they discuss, and even the code they discuss was A) written by a 3rd party, not Google, and B) was never included in a production build of Android. A better written article from a site that actually has intelligence: http://arstechnica.com/open-source/news ... ng-gun.ars

Engadget sucks big time. zdnet has also posted a rebuttal. http://www.zdnet.com/blog/burnette/oops ... droid/2162Anyway schmidt has not bailed. He just will not be a CEO. Google has way too deep a pockets to worry about oracle. I am hopeful that oracle loses this one and OS software kills their business.

 Re: The Tech thread
Ordered two 16gb iPhones the other day, but it was an adventure. Stayed up til 3am on the 3rd to order it, but kept getting errors on Verizon's website. At about 5am, I figured the site had crashed and just went to bed. Woke up at 10am and tried again... was still getting the error message from Verizon. After a little research, I found that a few others were having the problem. Then figured out I could order it from apple.com, and finally got them - no thanks to Verizon's shitty website. Now I just have to find a way to get rid of this dirty feeling I have for ordering an apple product.

 Re: The Tech thread
Do I have any other options for email with the iPhone?
Nearly everything has FAR exceeded my expectations with this, but holy hell does the mail program suck in comparison to my old BB.
I hate that the text messages and email are not in the same place/program, and I hate that it is limited to 200 messages. Looked for other apps, but doesn't appear to be any. Am I stuck with it being that way?

My goodness, that selective quoting is sloppy even by your standards, Krem. If one were to follow your links, they would find that you have proved my point. It must have been a bitter pill to realize you were wrong. I stand by my earlier statement: I don't believe I have advanced any theories about 9/11 on KJ.
