Re: HARRY POTTER 7-1: Deathly Hallows (INTL.) - $902.8m (#16
So, it is already #12 all-time worldwide.
Will easily pass Order of the Phoenix worldwide, but should settle for #10. Don#t see it making it past Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End's $961 million.

If it can hold well as it did this week for another 2 weeks I think it will come close to AWE, though yes beating that at this time looks difficult.

I wonder how much the 3D re-release will bump this up next year, can it even beat HP1's original gross WW.

The time gap is not that big. It will probably be in few theaters till early March. I don't think it will make much with the re-release because there is no action or 3D elements in this part.

So often i read "it doesn't lend itself well to 3D because there's no action". You people still don't get it. It's like saying it doesn't lend itself well to color because there's no action. Now think about it, maybe it'll dawn on you.

Nazgul I do agree what you are saying but I highly doubt that the non-die-hard of HP will be ready to spend extra bugs without action in it.
I wasn't really commenting about quality but more in terms of expectation and appeal for these movies.

In most 3D movies (especially post-filming converted ones) the only scenes filmed with 3D in mind are action scenes. They rarely think about the third dimension in non-action scenes and as a result they don't film them to immerse viewer into the movie throughout the whole running time.

Re: HARRY POTTER 7-1: Deathly Hallows (INTL.) - $925.9m (#12
First of all, basing your opinion on 3D on movies that came out during last year's post Avatar conversion craze is just so so wrong. Why not taking Avatar as an example? Most of its running time consist of scenes not involving action. In fact, i'd argue 3D works best in slower scenes, at least until they do away with the archaic 24 frames per second.
Not to mention, your stance of "no 3D for dramas" because of a few bad experiences, supposedly, has really nothing to do with what i said (some people's perception that 3D is only for action movies, or horror).
p.s. The added depth always enhances the experience, if done right.

It has done amazing OS, at least it did better there than the U.S. It would have topped 700 easily with 3D. Not sure how much a release will bring it in 3D. The bigger problem would be getting enough theaters to show it. It might play only for two weeks or something and that would only add 10-25 million WW. I guess it has a small chance of topping SS OS.

£50,640,371 after 8 weeks in UK passed HP5 and HP4 total (£49,874,480 and £49,196,228) last week somewhere midweek should pass HP6 total (£50,723,508) and finish with around £52.5-53 mln total. 11th or 12th all time.

Considering how ordinary i felt the movie was (compared to some of the HP greats), this overseas gross is simply fantastic. It's made that amount of money so fast though the run seems a bit boring if you ask me....though this is probably because we've now come to expect fantastic grosses from HP. the emerging markets is obviously helping this alot.

Ordinary compared to grands? Must've been watching a different movie, this blew all the others out of the water. Far and away the best.
