I agree with the above two quoted posters.

Aronofsky was once again unable to reign in his screenplay to fulfil his ambitious directorial powers. Both Requiem For A Dream and The Fountain were disappointingly promising failures. Luckily, Aronofsky has also succeeded twice in making a whole great film with his earlier Pi and his recent The Wrestler.

I'm still looking forward to next year's Black Swan - - I just hope we get the good Aronofsky, not the obtuse one...

Is it possible that one fails to mention this because it basically does not mean anything?

Exactly. If they don't know how to behave, and feel OK offending others, they get their ass kicked, so they'll think next time before opening their rotten mouths.

This was the music of some of the figure skaters during the Olympics and I had completed forgot where it was from. I had kinda just associated it with LOTR.

But after I first heard it again for the first time in years, I had to hear it again.

The film itself was remarkable, but I don't recall a score since this film that I've considered this powerful.

Just take a look on Youtube. The score video has 17.5 million views!

Simply unbelievable!

10/10 -> A

Simply great. If I start writing how great of a movie I think this is I'll probably never finish, so...

It's brilliant, in that all of Aronofsky's formal devices and camera tricks make one feel like they're on drugs, with all of the highs and lows that come along with that. Some call it over-the-top; I think it's masterful.

Requiem for a Dream

I've always said that music can make a movie, because music is always the best part of any movie, and that's true in Requiem for a Dream more than in any other movie I have ever seen. But not because the music propells this movie from a good movie to a great movie, but because after watching this movie I didn't think it was terrible ... and that's the magic and brilliance of music.

If only this score was used for a more deserving movie, that would have been excellent. The movie itself was so-so. There were far too many experimental edits and shots and it never really allowed me to settle. It was interesting to say the most. Everyone played their parts well and I guess the story is that three addicts tried to make their dreams come true. All the while they were part of a requiem.

My load cut off the last 8 minutes. I guess I didn't miss much. Credits are usually about that long. It cut off just as he is on the pier and Connely vanishes.

C+

Masteful.

Darren Aronofsky has become my 2nd favorite director.
