Post Shakespeare in Love 2, Bad Santa 2, Clerks 3....
"SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE 2? ROUNDERS 2? SWINGERS 2?? CLERKS 3??? Those are just some of the titles being proposed in a new partnership between Miramax and The Weinstein Company that will sequelize some of the classics in the old Weinstein library. The first projects under the deal will be sequels to BAD SANTA, ROUNDERS and SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE. Before you ask, there was no talent involvement announced so I have a feeling it will be less like WALL STREET 2 and more like MEAN GIRLS 2.

Other titles mentioned as possibilities include BRIDGET JONES'S DIARY, COPLAND, FROM DUSK TILL DAWN, SWINGERS, CLERKS and THE AMITYVILLE HORROR. I sent a request to Kevin Smith to clarify any involvement he would have in another CLERKS sequel (or whether he's even aware of the proceedings) and will post his response as soon as I hear back.

Some of the films above have already seen sequels (FROM DUSK TILL DAWN, BRIDGET JONES and AMITYVILLE HORROR) but others hardly need a sequel at all. Also mentioned as a possibility are television shows and more double-dipping for special edition DVDs and Blu-rays. "

SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE 2?

Some of these I could see. I would love to see a sequel to BAD SANTA, the first was awesome and I could see them making a CLERKS 3, even though it's not needed and if Smith isn't involved, I don't even know why they would consider it.

Almost as interesting as Chipmunkys's daily request for another self.

Shakespeare in Love doesn't need a sequel. Bad Santa and Clerks I can see though.

Kevin Smith always talked about a Clerks 3 with Dante and Randall in their 40s. He just turned 40, so... maybe?

I'm sure he'll eventually revisit that well.

While I think BAD SANTA is overrated, I've always wondered why they didn't make a sequel to this. It was quite the hit and has become a holiday classic. A sequel seemed like a no-brainer.

I've always wanted a Rounders 2, but only with Damon and Norton. I obviously won't see it if it's obvious direct-to-DVD garbage.

Sadly, there's no sign of Terry Zwigoff being attached to it - - and worse, no sign that he has any movie in the pipeline (still!). :(

It's now been 7 years and counting since his last film Art School Confidential, and his only other planned movie, Happy Days (not about the TV show), commissioned by Johnny Depp, fell through.

Here's a reasonably recent interview with Zwigoff from 2010 giving a bit of news.

Also, a Bad Santa 2 sequel will miss the deceased cast members John Ritter and Bernie Mac, even though they were rather peripheral.
